The State Government’s neighbourhood house funding program was designed to cover the cost of a manager and operational costs. The funding has not kept up with inflation, and now fails to cover the cost of employing a Manager for the mandatory opening hours, let alone the additional costs.

92% of these funded positions are filled by women, who are now under extreme pressure to cut corners or volunteer their time in the workplace. They are doing unpaid labour to cover the lack of funding for this essential community service.

We don't want programs to end, but we can't allow the stress of this to fall on the women doing the work for our communities. There is a simple solution - Increase NHCP funding by 25%.
