Hi everyone its Rita here. I apologise as I have not been able to post as I have had a hip replacement with my second one booked in shortly
I have been unable to be on site due to that reason.
It is with deep sadness and a very heavy heart that I share this message today. Unfortunately, we will be closing our doors this year.
Since 2019, we have been honoured to provide services and programs to our community. Over this time, we have reached tens of thousands of people, and we have always taken pride in upholding our mission, vision, and values to the highest possible standard.
As a small, family-run organisation, we have done everything in our power to remain open and continue supporting those who rely on us—especially individuals and families facing food insecurity. However, without funding, we can no longer sustain our operations.
To those in our community who depend on us, we are truly sorry. We know how challenging things are for so many right now, especially during the Christmas season as the cost of living continues to rise.
For the past six years, my family and I have volunteered full-time, six days a week, without pay. This work has meant the world to us, but it has also become increasingly difficult, and we can no longer continue on this journey. We have built countless relationships over the years, and we are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to have met and supported so many of you.
Throughout these six years, we have faced significant obstacles—from COVID to floods, fires, and more. As a not-for-profit, we were not eligible for government subsidies, yet by the grace of God, we persevered. But today, we face a challenge too great to overcome alone. We have truly exhausted every option, and it breaks my heart that this is where we stand—especially right before Christmas.
Thanks to our incredible partners Foodbank NSW & ACT St Marys Rugby League Club Good360 Australia St Marys Diggers and Band Club Bowlers and many other generous suppliers—we have been able to provide over $3 million worth of produce, essentials, furniture, white goods, clothing, and emergency hampers to the community. We were also blessed to deliver Easter and Christmas programs each year, something we will always cherish.
One of life’s greatest blessings is the gift of giving. We feel privileged to have stood on the front lines, witnessing firsthand the impact that support and compassion can have on those who need it most. We wanted to create a place where everyone felt welcome—a place free from stigma, where hearts, hope, and community could come together and thrive. We truly believe we achieved that.
Writing this brings me great heartache. I wish we could continue this journey and keep supporting our most vulnerable, but it is no longer viable. Volunteering full-time without income has placed enormous strain on our family, and the rising costs of electricity, water, and rent have become impossible to bear.
It is with great sadness that we have reached this point, and with an incredibly heavy heart that we say farewell.
At this time of year, we are usually preparing gifts and Christmas hampers to help fill homes with joy. This year, it is our own tree that will be empty—and for that, we are truly sorry.
Thank you to every person who has supported us, stood with us, and allowed us to be a part of your lives. Our hearts are with you all.
We will keep you updated regarding our homeless feeds and pop up programs.
