This year, the Horticultural Therapy Society of NSW Inc, aka Cultivate NSW, celebrates its 35th birthday.

We will celebrate this amazing achievement, face to face, as soon as we are able which is looking likely to be in December this year. In the meantime, over the next few months we will bring you some stories from people who have been closely involved with the formation and growth of Cultivate as well as snippets from the archives. We will also look at ways in which we can commemorate our 35th anniversary in more tangible ways.

Do you have suggestions as to ways in which you would like to commemorate a very significant birthday?

We would love to hear from you.

Don’t let a small balcony stop you from having a wonderful sensory experience.

Ordering online is so easy and you will find many plants that will thrive in your particular space. Consider things like light, drainage, and placement. Maybe a hanging garden on a wall is a better option to save precious balcony space.

You still want to sit out there with your cup of choice, right?

And plants are always a great way to start a conversation with your neighbours or as a privacy screen - your choice:-)!

There is something about picking and smelling a fresh lemon straight from the tree. I see people of all ages stopping by, I get to meet people in my neighbourhood, some I get to have a chat with. There was even one young couple that dropped in some lemon slice to say thanks for the lemons...

CREATE YOUR GARDEN IN THE SMALLEST OF PLACES. Planting a garden can start anywhere and in the smallest of places. A teapot, an old pair of shoes, or perhaps your kids shoes. What a great project to do with your kids this weekend. Plant some succulents from cuttings or perhaps herbs from seeds. Check your local Facebook Community Group or your Nextdoor Group for a swap or purchase.

Have you planted something recently in a small space you want to share?
We’d love to see the results.
