Australian bowls rising star Jack McShane who was a previous Ryde Sports Foundation award winner 2018-2019 has been recognised and named Commonwealth Games Australia's 2025 Emerging Athlete of the Year at the organisation President's Dinner in Sydney on Wednesday night. Jack earlier this year became the youngest ever winner of the World's Bowls Indoor Championship men's single title in Aberdeen, Scotland. Jack earlier this year was also announced as recipient of Tier 2 Scholarship in the 2026 Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program. RSF congratulates Jack McShane in his outstanding achievement and we look forward to seeing his continued success on the world stage.

RSF would like to congratulate Julia German who was one of our 2025 -26 monthly nomination winners in February 2026. Julia has been selected in the Australian U19 Junior Womens Development Handball team who will be competing in the Trans Tasman Cup in Hamilton NZ on 23-24th May 2026 at The Peak. We wish Julia and the whole team all the best in this event this coming weekend.

Following the NRRSL 'RAMS' Baseball AGM, RSF Chair Rob Wilkinson attended the event and seen here with previous RSF Sports Stars. Left to Right Craig Cant who along with his twin bother Brett, received a monthly Sports Star Award in 2009, Brandon Lee a monthly Sports Star award in 2021 and RSF last year assisted Brandon to do a baseball umpiring course in the USA, Dave Nelson monthly Sports Star award in 1989, Rob Wilkinson RSF Chair and NRRSL Board member.

Early this morning at 7.45am Premier Chris Minns opened the new Bennelong Sports Centre at the previous Marsden HS site before the first official games started at 8am. This complex is a very impressive centre with 29 outdoor courts and 4 indoor multi use courts for Netball, Basketball, Picket ball options available for the local community use. The sports centre will be operated by the Y NSW with Eastwood Ryde Netball Association (ERNA). RSF would like to thank the many Government Authorties, ERNA, Y NSW that put this state of the art sporting complex built and open today for the community use.

Last Friday night at North Ryde RSL we held our RSF 3 monthly nomination winners. Left to Right Jayden Chan (Badminton), Jarek Jozwiak (Padel Tennis), Timothy Forster (Athletics - Hurdles). Our next monthly presentation will be held at North Ryde Golf Club on 1st July 2026. We are looking for another couple of nominations to achieve our 12 monthly winners for our Gala Sport Star of the Year awards night at Ryde Eastwood Leagues on Friday 14th August 2026. Attention ALL Sporting Clubs and local schools with the upcoming Easter and NSW school holidays its a timely reminder the Ryde Sports Foundation is always on look out for our monthly award nominations from the many local High Schools, Sporting Clubs and Associations within the LGA Ryde. RSF has acknowledge over 450 sporting talented sports stars over the last 46 years since 1980.
