MEAT RAFFLE MANIA.
Our FIRST EVER meat raffle kicks off tonight in support of the Rutherglen RSL Sub-Branch.

Drawn at 6:30pm in the bar.

Every drink purchased over the bar automatically goes in the draw, with additional tickets available for $2 each or 3 for $5. It's a great excuse to knock off early, settle in for a cold one, and support this unsung organisation doing critical work for local veterans and their families.

FOR OUR VETERANS.
The Rutherglen RSL sub-branch does more than most people realise.
Beyond commemorating and preserving the stories and sacrifices of our veterans, they provide connection, support and community for current and former service men and women; often quietly, and without recognition.
Fundraising opportunities for the Rutherglen sub-branch don’t come around often. So this weekend, we’re proud to help support their efforts through two fundraising events:
FRIDAY: our first ever meat raffle, drawn in the bar at 6:30pm.
SUNDAY: Roast for a Reason, with proceeds donated directly to the cause.

Come down, bring some friends, and help us rally behind them!

Many thanks to the Army technical trainees who travelled to Rutherglen
yesterday to replace the WW1 Trench Mortar that they have restored for the Sub Branch.

This mortar has been standing pride n place in the Memorial Park for many years and was in need of some TLC and restoration.
She is a 76mm Minenwerfer, a First World War trench mortar.

The tradespeople from ASEME - Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering based in Bandiana, worked on the project for nearly
three months and have produced a very professional result that is a credit to both their enthusiasm and their trade skills.

The photo attached shows the personnel involved in the project along with the Sub Branch Secretary David Martin OAM, who co-ordinated the project with the assistance and co-operation of senior staff at the Armament Wing ASEME at Bandiana.

We certainly are very very
fortunate to have the assistance of the local Military personnel who also
provide Catafalque Parties for annual ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day
ceremonies.

On behalf of all at the Rutherglen RSL Sub-Branch,
Thank you to all involved.

Another great project for the promotion of our
beautiful Memorial Park.

'She really looks Amazing!'

RSL supports veterans being able to choose their advocate – be it paid or for free - but is extremely concerned that the lack of regulation, quality assurance and oversight has led to a rise in unethical, unscrupulous, profit-driven companies thriving in the sector, taking advantage of veterans at a very vulnerable point in their lives.

We cannot accept this.

The government and the ESO community need to shine a very bright light on the behaviour of these unscrupulous agents, and we welcome the changes announced by Hon. Matt Keogh MP to protect veterans and their families against fee-for-service advocates that strip a percentage of compensation money away from them.

RSL has nearly 600 trained compensation and wellbeing advocates across the country who can help guide veterans through the claims process for free.
