Enterprise Rupanyup Limited (e-rup) has been set up to revitalise the town centre of Rupanyup by developing a community retail precinct. The idea for this comes from the Community Planning Forum conducted in October 2013 which clearly identified developing retailing, particularly a supermarket, as a top priority for the town. e-rup is a company limited by guarantee and has members rather than shar
eholders. It operates as a community enterprise on a not-for-profit basis and was incorporated in January 2016. The foundation members of e-rup were drawn from the initial steering committee established to progress this project. They include representatives of the Rupanyup Minyip Finance Group, Yarriambiack Shire Council, Rupanyup Show Committee, Rupanyup and District Consultative Committee and existing retailers. These foundation members became the Directors of e-rup and are Anthony Chapman, Gayle Emmett, Calinda Hurley, Ray Kingston, David Matthews, Claire Morgan, Sarah Pathirana, Adrian Tyler and Malcolm Uhe. The project manager Wayne Street (Street Ryan Consulting) is the Company Secretary and Malcolm Uhe was recently elected Chairman. The Rupanyup Minyip Finance Group, Yarriambiack Shire Council and the philanthropic groups the Reichstein Foundation and the Sunshine Foundation have all provided financial support for e-rup’s project work and we have developed an expression of interest for funding by the State government.
