Does your asparagus patch look like this?
It's almost time to get them ready for Spring.
You might think that's a tad early but if you put the work in now, you'll thank me in Spring.
Once the fronds turn yellow/brown, they have finished putting energy back into the roots. You can cut them back down to the ground. I like to then cover the bed with compost/manure plus Culchar or Gyganic and Seamungus.
The rain will slowly wash this into the soil, recharging it with nutrients to feed the plants when they start growing in Spring.
Between now and Spring, every 6-8 weeks, I will add Culchar and Seamungus.
Asparagus are very long lived perennials. You can expect them to produce spears for you for 25+ years. It's definitely worth having a dedicated bed for.
