Muharram Program 2025

JAV’s upcoming Muharram program scheduled to run for 10 nights, starting from Friday, 27 June and continuing until the day of Ashura, with lectures presented in both English and Farsi.

We are honoured to have Sheikh Muhammad Hourani (English speaker) and Sayyed Hajj Agha Hossaini (Farsi speaker) preside over the 10 nights programs with us. Additionally, Maddah e Ahlubayt Hajj Seyed Abolfazl Sajadifar.

Pending moon sighting confirmation, it is anticipated the day of Ashura will be either on Sunday (6 July) or Monday (7 July). All program will be held at our Khatam ul Anbiya Centre (KAC).

The nightly programs will start from 7:00pm each night, with
- Main speaker in English, Sheikh Muhammad Hourani from 7:30pm
- Main speaker in Farsi, Sayyid Hossaini from 8:15pm

A reminder for families and individuals who wish to contribute financially to please donate generously to cover the relatively high costs incurred during these events. Costs total at least $2,500 per night on average, and every donation is encouraged to ensure obligations and commitments are met.

EID UL-FITR PRAYERS & CELEBRATION (subject to moon sighting)

Based on moonsighting expectations, Tuesday 1 April will be the day of Eid inshaAllah HOWEVER THIS IS NOT A FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT and Eid will be confirmed on Sunday night.

JAV invites the community to come together for a joyous Eid celebration at our Khatam ul Anbiya Centre.

Moving forward, based on community feedback, the Eid Community Event will be held on the actual day of Eid. This reflects the long-term goal of reinforcing the spiritual and cultural significance of Eid, ensuring our younger generation experience it as a day of celebration including families taking time off school and work to fully embrace and mark the significance of this special occasion.

Expected Date: Tuesday, 1 April 2025 (based on moonsighting)
Eid Namaaz: 9:00am sharp

After the prayers, breakfast will be served and provided by JAV.
Activities will include Face Painting, Balloon Artist, Jumping Castle, Henna Artist and Gift Bags for Children.

The event will conclude around 11:30am.

You are all welcome to come together with the community to mark the end of the blessed month of Ramadan.

NIGHTS OF QADR AT KAC

For the remaining two nights of Laylatul Qadr, the Khatam ul Anbiya Center (KAC) will remain open until Fajr prayers, offering a precious opportunity to spend the entire night in worship alongside others seeking to connect with Allah (swt) and have their destiny written for the year ahead.

On this Friday and Sunday night (the nights of 21st and 23rd Ramadan), individuals and families are welcome stay at KAC to perform in prayers and maximise the barakah and blessings of these blessed nights of Qadr.

Committee members will be present, and the centre will be securely locked to ensure everyone's safety.

FOOD PACKAGE FUNDRAISER

The Jaffaria Association of Victoria invites you to contribute to a special fundraiser supporting Palestine and Lebanon, with 100% of proceeds going directly to those in crisis through The Zahra Trust.

The fundraiser includes pre-ordered Afghan food prepared by community volunteers and chefs. Choose from family-sized packages or individual servings, perfect for everyone!

How to Order:

TONIGHT’S PROGRAM
Birth celebration of Imam Riza (as)
Sunday, 19 May 2024 from Namaz e Sham (5:30pm)

JAV invites the community to a special event to celebrate the birth of Imam Ali ibn Musa ar-Riza (as), the eight rightly chosen successor of Islam.

We are honoured that *Sheikh Hourani* will present as the main speaker in *English* and also honoured to have *Maddah e Ahlubayt Sayyid Sajadifar*.

Nazr (dinner) will be served from 6:30pm after prayers.

SPECIAL ENGLISH LECTURE
Tuesday, 23 April - 7:00pm

JAV invites the community to a special English lecture with Sheikh Mohammed Dehnavi.

Sheikh Dehnavi is the resident Alem at Sydney’s Imam Hussain Centre, and we are honoured to host the respected Sheikh in this one time event.

The program will start with group recitation of Dua Tawwasul, to seek intercession in personal and global affairs, in particular the oppressed in Palestine. Following the dua, the respected Sheikh will commence at 7:30pm InshaAllah.
