🌟 CADET SPOTLIGHT 🌟
Meet CUO Grosert from 16 ACU Redcliffe! With just two months left as a cadet, we asked him about his favourite memories, what comes next and what the program means to him. 👇
💚 What’s your favourite thing about being a cadet?
“My favourite part of being a cadet is the family. The program has a sense of unwavering and real camaraderie that makes the work worth it. I’ve made some of my best friends in cadets because you share moments that bring people’s real personalities out. Every time I go to cadets, I feel like I belong and that I’m serving a purpose greater than myself.”
🏕️ What’s your best cadet memory so far?
“My best memory would have to be a recent one. On Marksmanship 2026, I was asked to take part as both a candidate and directing staff. It was very challenging balancing both roles, trying to get the job done while also earning my own qualifications.”
“At times, I thought I wasn’t doing a good enough job, but when I was awarded third place in the elective, the course banged their tables and chanted ‘Hawk, Hawk, Hawk!’ It was then I knew I had made some real friends and done my job well that week. It was a small but really nice gesture that I will remember for a long time.”
🎯 What’s one thing you want to achieve in cadets?
“I only have about two months left as a cadet, but I would like to finish by saying this next camp was my best camp. Leaving on a high note is my goal, and to do that, every cadet needs to have a good time.”
⚡ What’s a fun fact about you that your unit might not know?
“I’m currently in the process of joining the Australian Army as a General Service Officer (GSO). The reason I’m pursuing this is cadets. It showed me that a career in the military isn’t all about war and conflict, but also about camaraderie, spirit and a proud desire to serve my country.
“In January, I hope to be the first of many cadets from 16 ACU to go to the Royal Military College and fulfil my dream of a career in the Army.”
Thank you for sharing your story, CUO Grosert. We’re looking forward to making your final months as a cadet ones to remember! 💚
