Morialta Residents' Association

Morialta Residents' Association The Morialta Residents' Association represents the interests of ratepayers in the Adelaide Hills Council section of Rostrevor, adjoining the Morialta Park.

Morialta is part of the Adelaide Hills Council area and proudly distinct from the other, densely-built, infilled areas of Rostrevor, which are covered by Campbelltown Council. The push by Campbelltown City Council to annex our part of Rostrevor through a boundary realignment is vigorously opposed by the MRA. Morialta is characterised by giant red gums, significant areas of remnant vegetation, larg

e open blocks, underground powerlines, the meandering Spring Gully Creek, abundant wildlife and the neighbouring Morialta Conservation Park. Local residents have worked for more than 50 years to nurture this environment, paying out of their own pockets to underground the area's electricity supply more than 30 years ago and planting and caring for areas of native vegetation. The Morialta Residents' Association is committed to protecting and preserving this special environment, particularly when increasingly intensive urban infill and over-development is so radically changing the face of suburban Adelaide

Three thieves were active in our area late last night. Surveillance cameras recorded them entering properties on both sides of Marola Avenue โ€“ one at 2.15 am and the other at 3 am.

It is likely that they visited numerous properties up and down the street, targeting parked vehicles.
A wallet was removed from one vehicle, with the contents discarded on site.

Disturbingly, one of them carried a machete while he briefly considered going up the driveway of one of the videoed properties. Motion-sensor lighting was activated.

The incidents were reported to the Norwood Police Station. Officers there said two people had been arrested in Maple Avenue, Rostrevor later in the morning. A machete was in their possession.

Please check your video surveillance and let us know if you recorded anything suspicious.

We urge you to support Nathan Daniell as your number one pick.

He is always readily accessible and responsive, providing practical and timely advice and assistance whenever it is needed.

Great news to see that current Adelaide Hills Council deputy mayor Nathan Daniell has nominated for mayor in the coming supplementary election.
Nathan has been firmly in our corner throughout the long, drawn out boundary dispute with Campbelltown.
We can expect to see ballot papers in the mail early next year. Voting will be from January 13 to February 6.

Since 2014, I have served our community as an elected member, including over six years as Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor. Living in Bridgewater with my family, teaching at Heathfield High School, and working closely with local volunteers, businesses, and community groups has given me a deep understanding of the aspirations we share for our region, as well as the challenges we face.

During my tenure, I have focused on collaborative leadership with Elected Members and the community to deliver outcomes that directly benefit our region. Most recently, weโ€™ve extended the Amy Gillett Bikeway, opened the Woodside Pool Splash Park, secured $2 million to restore Cox Creek, launched Fabrik, and strengthened community resilience. There is of course much more to do.

As Mayor, I will continue to provide strategic leadership and work closely with residents to:
๐Ÿ’ก Ensure your views genuinely shape Council decisions
๐Ÿ“‰ Strengthen financial sustainability while delivering core services well
๐ŸŒณProtect the Hillsโ€™ unique character, heritage, and environment
โšฝ Support local sport, recreation, arts, and small business
โœ… Enhance disaster preparedness and resilience across all townships

I look forward to listening and talking with many of you over the coming months. I love this region and the people who make it what it is. With your support, Iโ€™m committed to leading a Council that is engaged, transparent, and focused on helping our communities thrive.

Warm regards

Nathan

Campbelltown Council's plans for a "vibrant community heart" featuring 12-storey residential towers, new offices and a performing arts centre on their Montacute Road site are stirring deep community opposition.
It is happy to spend tens of thousands of ratepayers' dollars on so-called "consultation" on this giant vanity project but has clearly already made up its mind.
This is precisely what it has also done pursuing its unwanted, hostile takeover bid for our area, ignoring the results of its own expensive "consultation".
Both Cambelltown and Adelaide Hills surveyed residents of the affected areas, with virtually identical results recording majority opposition in each case.
But it didn't suit Campbelltown's rate-chasing agenda.
It has already spent at least $160,000 pushing its claim through the State Boundaries Commission, which is yet to make a recommendation to Minister Joe Szakacs MP.
If the Commission, and subsequently the Minister, do eventually give Campbelltown the nod and force us into a council we want no bar of, we can look forward to sharing the substantial rate increases which their hapless existing ratepayers will have to swallow to build their "vibrant heart".
And Campbelltown residents can have little confidence that their council will actually listen to them.
