Your Mates Place is a Nonprofit Community Organisation providing a support service to our community and anyone who needs us. We provide community education, support and referrals to various services with our target audience being those suffering from mental illness or struggling with anxiety, depression and isolation. We want to help everyon
e and reach out to Victims of crime, DV and victims of abuse, and that’s any form of abuse. A group that is extremely underrepresented are Prisoners who are about to be released or those who have been released and need assistance. We can help and support you in tackling all the challenges you face when rebuilding your life. You are not alone and there is help. Our main objective in providing this service is to minimise the risk of self-harm and su***de. We believe that there can never be too many services that offer help in a variety of ways. Offering more services means we can reach more people. To us, that is the most important thing. Help people who need help simply by being there. Loneliness can be deadly and when help doesn’t appear to be in arms reach despair can come uninvited and take over. It would be wrong to not at least try and help as many as we can. It’s inhumane to ignore the urgent attention that mental illness requires. We have raised the awareness, we have researched and found common triggers amongst so many, we may not have all the answers, but, should we wait until we do or do we start helping whoever we can now? As an ongoing necessity, we should be researching human behaviour and the causes of mental and emotional breakdowns, its connection to physical illness and pain, and the best way to treat the ones effected while finding ways to prevent this from occurring to future generations moving forward.
