Big boy Baxter the EG buck is now 4.1kg. He and young EG buck, Skippy, are great mates. Today they enjoyed their sunshine, relaxing and soaking up some vitamin D! Baxter still sucks his toe for comfort and always watches on when Skippy is eating! Let’s just say he loves his food!

Meet Ceylon, our 940gram male red necked wallaby. He came into care a few days ago and is feeding really well. He is at the point of leaving the pouch for short exploration, however, he is not keen on noise and jumps straight back into the security of his pouch! We named him Ceylon because it looks like he has had tea poured over his fur. He is beautiful.

Maranoa Regional Council Community Grants Program

Grants that can be used for Wildlife funding provide crucial financial support for rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Thank you to Maranoa Regional Council for the opportunity to allow the submission of an application for the Community Grants program 2025/26 Round 1. MWCEC was successful in the application for vital equipment for Enhancing Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation. With this grant we can purchase some vital equipment to help our carers care for Maranoa regions native wildlife.

One piece of equipment we can purchase is called a Tonometer. This specialised handheld device is used to measure intraocular pressure of an eye, which can allow treatment more efficiently and rapidly for wildlife. It is a less invasive way of measuring pressure without anaesthesia.

For ongoing care of wildlife, it is essential to have the necessary equipment to make it a little easier for carers and a little more comfortable for wildlife.

Thank you Maranoa Regional Council.
