To all the volunteer firefighters of Victoria,
Orange Hill RFB sends a massive thank you for what you all have given over the past five relentless days.

As catastrophic fires have threatened homes, livelihoods, wildlife, and whole communities, you have stood your ground with courage, skill, and an unwavering sense of duty.

Many of you have left your families, your farms, your jobs, and your own exhaustion behind to protect people you may never meet. You have worked through heat, smoke, fear, and fatigue, asking for nothing in return except the chance to help.

That kind of selflessness is extraordinary.

Your bravery, teamwork, and quiet determination embody the very best of who we are as a community.

We stand with you, we thank you, and we honour the sacrifices you continue to make to keep others safe.

Crew spent the day on property in Dunkeld, sw of Roma, supporting primary producer brigades Springfield, Foyleview, and V Gate as they worked to contain a bushfire started by a lightning strike on Sunday night.
It was hot, dusty, dirty work in some rugged country, but tonight the fire is 100% contained and being monitored.

A heartfelt thank you to our rural fire service volunteers across the Maranoa Region. Truck Crews from Amby, Muckadilla, Dargal Rd, Wallumbilla and Yuleba, and the Primary Producer brigades of Eumamurrin, Euthulla, Bymount, Hodgson and Orallo all do an outstanding job. Our numbers are small but we are dedicated to protecting our community. 😀

Orange Hill RFB will have a stall this Saturday at the Moorelands Bush Nursery Xmas Markets.
Come along and chat to our friendly crew about how to obtain a Permit to Light, the new AFDRS rating system, being Bushfire Prepared, or becoming a volunteer firefighter in this great organisation!

Last night Orange Hill RFS crews were invited to take part in a multi agency exercise at the Roma Fire station.

This exercise was a QAS multi casualty exercise as part of QAS's response capability training.
Also attending were crews from Roma Fire & Rescue, and QPS.
Thank you also to the members of the public who played "casualties"!

It was a great opportunity to work together and strengthen our interoperability.

‼️‼️ Check the Weather Forecast ‼️‼️ If you do have a current Permit to Light please adhere to all conditions written on it, and if the wind is gusting above 24km/hr, Do not light up. We have a few more days of High Fire Weather with gusty winds, predicted storms, and minimal rainfall.

Despite storm activity and rainfall of late across large areas of Queensland, high fire danger remains in place for much of the state today.

That means there’s a heightened risk of dangerous conditions if a fire starts, so please keep an eye on bushfire warnings through the QFD website or social media channels.

Local fire bans remain in place in parts of central and north Queensland.

It has been an extremely busy few days in trying weather conditions for Orange Hill and Dargal Rd crews.
Extreme heat and gusty winds has seen crews combating lost permit fires and lightning strikes north and east of town, and we still have two more days of High Fire Danger.
Please, if you have a Permit to Burn, be aware of the weather conditions before you light up. Ensure your breaks are wide enough and you have adequate fire fighting equipment on hand. Be vigilant! This heat causes w***y w***y's that can pick up hot embers and start new fires on unburned ground. Wind shears & swings can have a fire jumping containment lines in seconds.
As always if you see fire or smoke call Triple Zero 📞
