You're invited to help them celebrate on the 3rd of October at the Clarendon Vale Neighbourhood Centre 63 Mockridge Rd Clarendon Vale between 10am and 2pm. A free sausage sizzle for lunch is just one of the things planned for the day. We'd love to see you there!

Starting today, Tasmania’s southern councils are going toe-to-toe in a regional BioBlitz to see who can record the most plant, animal and fungi species in two weeks.

Residents of Hobart, Clarence, Kingborough, Glenorchy, Huon Valley, Brighton, Sorell and the Tasman Peninsula are being challenged to join the Southern Tassie Bioblitz Showdown and log as many plant, animal and fungi species as they can using the iNaturalist citizen science platform.

Residents have just two weeks to log everything from insects to birds, orchids, grasses, mammals, reptiles and even weeds on iNaturalist, a free mobile app that lets you record, share and identify plants, animals and fungi.

The event runs from September 15 to 30.

The results will be announced on October 23 to allow time for observations made during the blitz to be verified and reach 'research grade' status. Total observations, as well as the number of different species recorded, will be compared for each area to determine the winners.

Hey everyone, for those who like to run, jog or walk, we're gathering a group together to launch a regular Parkrun in our local Clarence Plains community. We're currently looking for an enthusiastic Co-Event Director and a team of volunteers to help get it off the ground. Let us know below if you're interested in helping out, and we'll be in touch.

Happy National Volunteer Week!! We would like to thank the amazing One Community Together Landcare team.

From maintaining the Community Bush Tucker Garden and planting trees, to being involved in community garden events, working with students from Clarendon Vale Primary School and caring for the GROW garden, our Landcare group continues to make a huge difference.

Your passion, knowledge and commitment is outstanding. Thank you.

If you would like to be involved, the group meets every Wednesday at 11am in the GROW garden which is located between the Clarendon Vale Neighbourhood Centre, the Clarence Plains Child and Family Learning Centre and Clarendon Vale Primary School. You don't need to know anything about gardening, just drop in for a cuppa and a chat (and usually cake) and see how the garden grows.

The group is currently harvesting vegetables that were planted at our Harmony Day event which then go to the Clarence Plains Community Food Hub- "food grown for the community by the community".

The lovely Kate is leaving her role with 26TEN and taking up a new position with TAS Tafe. Kate has been a tireless worker in our local community and we're really sad to see her go but wish her the very best in her new role. Thanks Kate for being so genuine and working so hard for everyone in Clarence Plains. You are hugely appreciated!
