Introducing our new ‘Unit of Work’ play and learn activities in LiL and Pre-Kindergarten

Story time: Where is the green sheep 🐑?
Song: Old MacDonald had a farm
Sensory play: farm yard animal and native animal noises
Construction: building farm vehicles, pens, and driving around their country town
Baby play: farm animal hand puppets and animal noises, mirror play, crawling and rolling
Creative play: vegetables in the kitchen to cook up and serve dinner at the table for friends
Gross motor: galloping with hobby horses
Fine motor: learning to use scissors to snip play dough and leaves 🍃
Numeracy: sorting farm animals and colours

Plus lots of digging, tipping with wheelbarrows and water play outside on nice sunny spring days 🌸🌸🌸

Pre-Kinder Mondays 1:30-2:30 supporting children wanting to join our kindergarten in 2027.

Don’t forget to bring your LiL book bag and book back to LiL or Pre-K when you are ready to choose another book to share at home. You can keep the book at home to re-share for as long as you like! 🙂Just bring back when you’d like to borrow another book 📕 There is no charge at all even if the book gets lost or damaged.

Welcome to Term 3 in LiL birth-4yrs
Monday mornings 8:45-9:45am
Activities for the next 4 weeks:
Story time: I went walking
Song: Miss Polly had a Dolly that was Sick
Creative play: dolly hospital
Block play area: trains and train tracks
Numeracy: count and step along the ladder to 3, pom, pom count and sort
Fine motor: threading, finger printing and chalk drawing
Sensory play: winter ❄️ tuff tray with ice 🧊, foam or bubbles 🫧

Pre-kinder every Monday AFTERNOON 1:20-2:20pm.

For: children who are wanting to join Rokeby Kinder in 2027

Routine:
Parent/carer supports child with all jobs and routines.

1.Welcome 🤗 children find their ‘name peg’ and peg it to the board (parents help them to find their name).

2. Parent writes their own name and child’s name on name stickers and put them on (so we can get to know each other easily).

3. Child does one of the two jobs and posts a circle ⭕️ in the finished frame when done ✅ Jobs today are: build a word or filling and tipping out Pom poms
4. Play time!
5. Clean up then fruit time.
6. Circle time songs and books: encourage your child to sit on a circle sitting spot.
7. Goodbye time.

I am looking forward to seeing all our wonderful families this Monday 🙂

Our new activities to explore:

Song: Incy Wincy Spider - help our baby spiders peg their legs back on (pegs are their legs) 🕷️

Sensory: dry scooping - feed the animals some food by scooping the grain into the containers with the spoons 🥄and scoops.

Numeracy: which teddy fits in the box 📦 🧸? Can you fit in the box?

Literacy: mark making - printing shapes, painting, ball roll and car 🚗 printing, our Pre-writing marks are ‘side ways, side ways, left to right’.

Story: the very hungry caterpillar 🐛

Our LiL families have been enjoying singing 🎶 The Wheels 🛞 on the Bus 🚌 and riding buses we have decorated. We have also been exploring Autumn 🍂 and making marks with lots of different tools and colours. Joins us every Monday 8:45-9:45am for Launch 🚀 into Learning and Mini Movers active fun on Tuesdays 1:20pm-2:20pm. All welcome 🤗

We are looking forward to welcoming our families back to Launch 🚀 into Learning this Monday 8:45am and Mini-Movers Tuesday 1:20pm Kinder block.
All welcome 🤗

Our new unit of work play activities:
-Autumn sensory table with light, textures and bugs 🐛 to explore
-Our new song is: The Wheels on the Bus 🚌
-children are invited to decorate a bus that they will be able to ‘ride in’ once decorated (this is a collaborative task).
-box work buses, steering wheels and characters waiting at the bus stop are arranged in our block station area.
-Our new story is ‘Brown bear 🐻 brown bear, what do you see?’
-mark making and lacing activities as well as autumn paintings 🖼️ are all set up
-our numeracy activity is ‘feeding puppets.’ We have puppets for our children to pop on their hand and count the food they feed their puppet. In our baby space we have hand and wrist puppets for our bubs to engage in with food to feed their puppets too!
-lastly we have set up a puppet show stage for our children to create their own puppet shows.

In Mini-Movers our new focus skill is kicking balls.

Ange will be away for the next few weeks.
