Hi everyone,

Due to unforeseeable circumstances, we won’t be running a class tomorrow afternoon. We are so sorry to have to cancel and we hate disappointing the girls but unfortunately, we can’t avoid it.

We have notified as many of the girls as possible via text and the Girls FX Whats App group.

To kick off week 3, we celebrated Galentine's Day with a Picnic and Paint session to celebrate friendship and creativity. Not only did the picnic allowed us to get out in the sunshine at Hearson's Cove but it also provided a relaxing space for artistic expression.

On Wednesday, we treated ourselves to some self-care with making some hydrating hair masks. After going over hygiene practices, we dove into creating some fabulous hair masks that the girls took home to use. Applying hair masks not only promotes healthy hair but also offers relaxation and pampering while highlighting the importance of taking time to ourselves to look after ourselves.

Finally, on Thursday, we crafted some beautiful friendship bracelets. This activity allows us to express our appreciation for one another and strengthen bonds of friendship while encouraging creative expression and developing fine motor skills and patience.

We kicked off our week this week by cooking some delicious Japchae noodles, a traditional Korean dish. Not only did the girls try some new flavours, they also improved on their culinary and team work skills.

At The Base this week, we crafted some natural coffee and sugar body scrubs which smelled incredible! The combination of coffee grounds and sugar serves as a gentle exfoliant, helping to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. Not only was it fun making the scrubs but it also encouraged the girls to take control of their skin-care and bathing routine while prioritising self-care.

Girls FX had a great start back to the school year!

We kicked off our classes with friendship bracelet making. The girls were able to express their unique styles, work on their motor skills as well as strengthen their friendships and the sense of community within the Girls FX program.

On Thursday, we ventured into the world of cookie baking and decorating. Working in teams, the girls created some delicious sugar cookies with buttercream icing. Baking cookies provided a hands-on experience, enhancing kitchen skills and understanding of ingredients and measurements. While decorating the cookies unleashed the girl's artistic side, offering a canvas for edible masterpieces.

That's a wrap on Girls FX for 2023 !

We have had an amazing time with all our fabulous attendees this year! We have held over 280 classes throughout the year in Karratha, Dampier, Roebourne and Wickham while also collaborating with St Luke's Catholic College, STARS Karratha and STARS Roebourne. Our classes have included a wide variety of activities, from cook offs to Christmas crafts to modelling to creating natural beauty products to beach days to Amazing Races to an overnight camp at Point Sampson!

We have enjoyed seeing all of lovely attendees grow and develop their skills throughout the year, and we can't wait for another incredible year next year!

We had another wonderful week with Girls FX this week!

On Tuesday, the girls worked in teams for an epic bake-off! Each team's creativity shone as the girls crafted some delicious cakes, showcasing our culinary talents. Check out the girl's creative designs!

For Wednesday's activity we headed to Dampier where the girls explored the shoreline and enjoyed being outdoors. It was a relaxing afternoon the the girls spent reconnecting with each other.

To finish off the week, we made our own candles! Crafting candles was an artistic adventure that allowed us to express our creativity and practice mindfulness. The girls each put their own personal touch on their candles, creating beautiful and unique pieces.

That's a wrap on the Girls FX Staycation School Holiday Program !!!

We kicked the program off with a great day at Miaree Pool. The girls had a fun time swimming, floating and jumping off the rope swing into the water. In between all the swimming, we fired up the BBQ for a delicious sausage sizzle along with fruit, snacks and juice!

We also headed to Honeymoon Cove in Point Samson for a mini Amazing Race challenge. The girls had to work as teams and put their critical thinking and fitness to the test to complete a range of challenges! After the race, we had a picnic and swam in the warm water.

Our school holiday program was not only a great way for the girls to catch up and have fun but also to engage in healthy activities that promote fitness and teamwork while being outdoors!

We'll see all the girls next week for our usual after school programs!

What a great term we have had!

Over term 3, we've explored a wide range of activities, from crafting macrame keychains to baking cupcakes for R U OK Day, to beach days to making perfumes. These experiences have not only honed our creativity and skills but also boosted our mental and emotional well-being. Our outdoor adventures, beach visits, and mindfulness activities like making lava lamps have brought us closer to nature and our inner selves. Through it all, we've learned, bonded, and embraced the importance of self-care, community, and well-rounded health. 🌟

Week 9 was another week full of fun activities !

It's starting to warm up so on Tuesday we headed to Hearson's Cove for the afternoon for a swim and BBQ. The calmness of the beach helped us to unwind and while we soaked up some vitamin D from the sunshine.

We tested our patience on Wednesday by making macrame keychains. We improved on our hand-eye coordination as we learned a new skill while also practicing some mindfulness.

Thursday was R U OK day, and what better way to celebrate than by making some delicious cupcakes. Working together in teams, we made some delicious cupcakes and discussed mental health and why it is important.

We had another amazing week with the Girls FX crew!

We kicked off the week with Burgers at the Beach. Spending time by the beach not only offers a serene escape from our daily routine but also allows us to reconnect with nature and unwind. The beach BBQ brought us together to enjoy delicious food and strengthen our connections

On Wednesday, we got to explore the world of culinary creativity by making island donuts. Tawani showed us how to create delicious donuts with a family recipe from the Torres Strait Islands. This activity sparked our creativity and honed in our attention to detail while we learned about a different culture. Making donuts also fosters a sense of accomplishment as we got to enjoy the efforts of our hard work!

To finish the week, we then dove into the art of sushi making. Crafting sushi not only introduces us to a unique culinary experience but also teaches us precision and patience. We learned about different ingredients, rolling techniques, and presentation, which all contribute to the aesthetics and taste of sushi.
