🐾 PetO Mandurah Saturday 30 May 🐾
Laurie and Juliet kicked off the day by collecting the gear and setting up, with Mark arriving shortly after with Oscar and Rosie. Vince and Christine joined us with handsome fawn boy Cagney, while Garry and Trisha brought along Titan, who was delighted to greet everyone he met. Irene came with a new stash of coats and they were a hot seller. She spent the day fitting hounds in their new attire!
Unfortunately, Titan damaged another toenail during the event. Thankfully there was no blood bath this time, and Trisha quickly wrapped it before arranging a vet visit. Despite the discomfort associated with his SLO, Titan handled the situation remarkably well and continued to enjoy the day.
Michelle brought Willow, who was a little unsure of the busy environment but has been making wonderful progress through her training. She spent much of the day quietly relaxing on her mat while keeping a watchful eye on all the activity around her.
Luke attended with foster boy Fred, who proved once again why everyone loves him. Fred is one of the most relaxed hounds around, happily accepting cuddles from children and making friends with everyone he met. Luke is so smitten with Fred that he's currently in the process of adopting him.
Lisa and her husband brought along their beautiful, chilled greyhound cross and foster boy Smokey, an impressively tall and lanky lad. Smokey remained calm and composed, even when faced with an enthusiastic little dog determined to bark in his face. Lisa is working on feeding him up to get a little more weight on.
Spock stopped by and was lucky enough to score a new coat, with a suitable size still available. Nicole, Reid and Madison also visited for some much-needed hound cuddles, with Madison especially excited to see Spock. All of the dogs thoroughly enjoyed the attention from Reid and Madi.
Angela, her daughter, and pretty Autumn came for a visit, and Autumn was noticeably more comfortable around the other dogs. We spent some time discussing the three-second face-to-face rule and side-by-side introductions, which helped Autumn feel more at ease.
Vinnie (GAP) visited with his mum and enjoyed a successful shopping spree, heading home with two new coats and a collar. Mark was incredibly helpful, demonstrating the correct fitting and use of a martingale collar.
Jacob and Natalie brought Chase along with their small dog, who continues to be a wonderful companion for him. Chase is looking fantastic, having gained some much-needed weight and sporting a shiny new coat of fur. He picked up two new coats for winter and would have happily added a harness to his collection if we'd had one in his size!
Lovely petite black girl Katie, Oscar's walking buddy, also modelled a gorgeous new coat and looked absolutely stunning.
Some of our successful shoppers included:
🐕 Titan – 1 coat
🐕 Oscar – 1 coat
🐕 Rosie – 1 collar
🐕 Spock – 1 coat
🐕 Vinnie – 2 coats and 1 collar
🐕 Katie – 1 coat
🐕 Chase – 2 coats
🐕 Amanda Shay's two hounds – new coats each
We also sold 2 of Irene's newly knitted hounds.
With so many coat fittings and happy shoppers, the afternoon flew by. We packed up just before the stormy weather rolled in and headed home after another enjoyable and successful event.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers, adopters, foster carers and supporters who made the day such a success. And thank you to the PetO team for making us feel so welcome once again. 💙🐾
