📝 The Rochester Show Presidents
Report 📝

The 2026 Show is now a memory and was once again a huge success no matter how you look at it. Our whole committee dug deep and worked hard to once again deliver two great days of entertainment and activities for our wider community.

The dog 🐕 show kicked off early Friday morning with large numbers of competitors and was an excellent display and ran very smoothly.

Friday night’s crowd built steadily and we were once again blessed with perfect weather. Our food options were also very popular and catered for all budgets and tastes.

The Beef 🐄 Spectacular continues to grow each year and was a fantastic exhibition of cattle before a large crowd of interested onlookers.

The oval program was again a real highlight with all ages with our car display and kids’ activities proving very popular late into the night. The amount of young people on the oval was amazing and shows if we provide quality entertainment and activities that it certainly draws a crowd. At all times throughout the evening there were eager young people ready to take part in the many free activities and games.

The Fly ✈️ over was again very popular and had everyone looking to the sky to see what was going to happen next.

The fire works 🎆 finished off a fantastic night, with many again commenting that they were the best display see anywhere for an event of our size.

A great crowd was able to take part in many free activities, enjoy the much larger sideshow alley, have a drink and catch up with members of our local community. This I believe is what makes our Friday night so successful and something we as a committee should be very proud of.

Saturday saw a larger crowd than in previous years no doubt helped by the weather gods again being on our side this year.
We had a very successful exhibition of animals in all sections.
Our horse show again had great numbers and was a great display. A huge amount of work went into seeing the day run very smoothly and successfully.

The beef cattle show was the largest for many years with over 100 head of cattle. This has only added to our reputation of running one of the best beef shows in our state. Dairy cattle numbers were also up on the last year with another quality display of animals.

It was good to see our poultry section continuing and this all adds to our show.

Our Boer and dairy goat shows both had good numbers and attracted plenty of onlookers throughout the day.

The working sheep dog demonstrations on the oval were once again very popular. Both on Friday night and throughout Saturday a large crowd gathered to watch, ask questions and be entertained.
It was fantastic to see all the different animal sections running and this all adds to our show and makes us a great agricultural show.

The kids’ activities on the oval were very busy all day and continues to be one of the highlights of our show for young families. The fact families can come along for free on Saturday and take part in this is something to be proud of.

Our homecrafts pavilion was filled with our communities work and shows the talented people we have within our community. Many commented on the varied and fantastic display.

I would like to thank everyone on our committee. The way everyone takes responsibility not only for your sections but the whole show and puts their hand up to help out is what makes our show such a success.

I would also like to thank our committee’s family members who get dragged into helping out before, during and after our show, without their assistance we couldn’t achieve what we do.

A special thank you to Maxine and Deb. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is huge and without your attention to detail and dedication our show would not run so smoothly.

The way everyone works together makes my job as President so much easier and I’m proud of our whole committee and what we have again achieved.

See you at the Rochester Show in 2027

Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of attending the Rochester Rotary Clubs community breakfast! Presenting was the Campaspe council in regards to our local pool. After the councillors and Mayor spoke, our community groups have the opportunity to share what is happening for each of us. I had the privilege to speak and share with everyone on behalf of the show committee, how wonderful our show was this year and the amazing numbers we had across all of our animal and homecraft schedules. This was met with a big round of applause and reminded me of how proud we are of the work we do to bring The Rochester Show to our community!! If you don’t get to these meetings you really should try ! It’s a great way to hear what is going on, forthcoming events and activties and the work the community groups do !!
