Trevor showcased an excellent speech, which was interactive, inspirational and highly educational!

He was reflecting on what he has learned about public speaking in his 4 years as a member. In that time, he has completed a full learning Path and presented about 15 speeches to us 🎉

Always, he has a fascinating topic featuring stories from his life, or demonstrating expertise as a small motor mechanic 🔧

In this speech, he demonstrated how to put a speech together. He used a walkthrough of a small motor (with prop!) as an example. Then got members to hold up milestones in the process he uses to put a presentation together.

We laughed, we learned, we played. All during a single member's speech. Want to learn from Trevor? We certainly wish to keep doing so 🔥

Every fortnight, we gather to hear speeches from our diverse and compelling membership. Want to learn to teach, motivate or tell your story? Why not give us a visit and see how!

🏆🏆 Here are our winners!!

Two huge nights to host our four annual speaking contests; International, Humorous, Table Topics and Evaluation.

Across the four contests, we had 17 members enter and extend themselves in the joy that is chasing a certificate.

🔥 For most of us, it's that sweet participation trophy that says "I have grown enough to stand and speak and enter a contest".

🔥 For plenty, it's the placegetter certificate that hints at better luck next year and skills growth ahead!

🔥 For the special four, they got the first place this year and will go on Sunday to represent the club at the Area conference.

Contests happen just once per year, but provide one of the fastest ways to improve speaking and confidence skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Keen to give it a try? See you at our next meeting; 6 November, Rochedale Community Hall.

✨The Magic of Toastmasters! ✨

Every fortnight, all of our members practice their speaking skills in the meeting. Every member joins us with a different background and level of confidence.

No matter though, we have the pleasure of watching every one grow their confidence and relax into presenting to the room.

This was demonstrated at our last meeting with three speakers.

⚽ Rinchal gave her Icebreaker, the very first speech a member ever gives.
🏀 Lyn had a hiatus from membership, so we're seeing her second era.
🎱 And Ryan presented about his 30th speech - maybe even more!

What you can see in the photos is the increased confidence, comfort and overall growth of these members. Look at the lectern/notes and hand gesture broadness evolution!

All three were super interesting and engaging speeches. All three received thoughtful, supportive feedback. And all three keep taking the next step through the program.

💥 Never do we have a low energy, disappointing or "off" meeting. Every fortnight, we hang out away from the judgement of the world and instead with like-minded people.

Our next meeting is Thursday 21 August. Shoot a quick message if you'd like to know how you can visit!

Another great meeting at Downunder! The theme for the night was "Adventure"! Sure enough, each member took us on a journey of their past adventures.

A member has a noticeable improvement in her volume. The sky is the limit for her growth in the club.

If you've been looking for a place to improve your communication and leadership skills, look no further.

One of our members, Thomas, participated in the Speech Evaluation Contest and won! He will go on to the next round of the competition, battling against the best of the best in the region.

What is Speech Evaluation Contest?
- A speech is given by a test speaker and participants will go on to evaluate the speech. Judges will then choose the best evaluation based on many criteria such as the delivery, the recommendation, and the language used.

This contest ensures that the Toastmasters organization keeps its high standard in helping each member grow through effective and inspiring feedback.

Downunder Toastmasters Club is in full support of Thomas. He has worked hard to improve his skills and we believe he'll do great in the next round of the contest.

Last week's meeting was a special one. Our newest member made her first speech sharing things about her past, future goals, and why she joined a public speaking club that is Downunder Toastmasters Club.

It was amazing to hear her first speech and we are excited to see her growth within and outside the club.

If you or anyone you know wants to gain unshakable confidence and amazing public speaking skills, our door is wide open for visits :))

See you soon!

Here’s Thomas explaining WHY he joined the Downunder Toastmasters Club and HOW the club is helping him grow.

All our members joined for different reasons and headed in different directions.

Whether it’s confidence you’re looking for or storytelling skills, a nurturing and encouraging environment is the best place to flourish.

If you or someone you know would benefit from a club like this, send me an email for more info :))

Last night's topic was "Simplicity". Many questions were raised on how we can simplify and declutter in a world rapidly increasing in complexity.

The first speech of the first meeting of the year was given by a new member as her icebreaker speech.

We started this year with 3 new members whose public speaking journey is promising.

One of our members delivered an immersive speech teaching how to dock a boat ⛵

Downunder Toastmasters Club nurtures public speaking skills and confidence, empowering members to share their hobbies, experiences, philosophies, and more with courage and clarity

🎄🎄Downunder Toastmasters' Christmas Party🎄🎄

Our star member, Valu, planned the whole evening and filled it with games that got everyone's competitive - yet playful, spirits come out. She also prepared a table-full of foods and treats that energized us for a night of fun.

Although I didn't win many games myself, I had a lot of fun and made many trips back to the food corner 😋

This night was a highlight of 2024 for the whole club. I can't wait to celebrate Christmas this 2025 with more foods, more games, and more members (that could be you soon 😊)

On behalf of the club, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

A perfect balance of Challenge and Support! ☺️
The last meeting was full of inspiration and evolution.

Here's a quick recap:
1. We watched as one of our members tried something new and adjusted ON THE SPOT! 🔥
2. The table topics were challenging, but our members rose and took the challenge head-on.
3. Our president spent her time and effort to give us a Member Handbook to further help us advance our skills and knowledge.

What an amazing group of people to be around with!

If you're looking for an organization to help you foster your potential, you've found it!
