The Board of Cricket Gold Coast was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Queens Cricket Club's Greg Chaplin.

'Chappo', a lifelong Centaur, was a beloved long term President of Queens. The club not only named him a Life Member, but also named the ground at Arthur Angove Park in his honour; Greg Chaplin Oval.

Greg was also Treasurer of the Cricket Gold Coast, then known as the Gold Coast & District Cricket Association, for a period of 20 years or more in the 1980s & 90s.

He was awarded Life Membership of the association in the late 1990s and later had the premiership shield for Community Division 3 (6th Grade) named in both his and fellow CGC Life Member and long serving association Secretary, Cliff Giles's, honour; the Giles-Chaplin Shield.

The Board of Cricket Gold Coast extends its sincere condolences to Greg's family, friends, and his clubmates at Queens CC.
