At Ripley Scout Group, Leave No Trace isn't just something we talk about, it's something we teach and put into practice.

From our youngest Joey Scouts through to our Venturers, young people learn how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly, care for the environment, respect wildlife, and leave places better than they found them.

These principles are woven throughout our camps, hikes, outdoor activities and adventures, helping our youth develop a lifelong appreciation for the natural world and their role in protecting it.

What are the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace?? It's a minimal impact code of practice for everyone participating in outdoor recreation:

1. Plan ahead and prepare
2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces
3. Dispose of waste properly
4. Leave what you find
5. Minimise campfire impacts
6. Respect wildlife
7. Be considerate of others

Leave No Trace builds awareness, appreciation and respect for our natural and cultural heritage. By observing these simple rules, we can all make a difference and the special places we go will remain special.

Ripley Scout Group has returned home from an incredible week at LEAP South 2026!

This was a particularly special milestone for our Group. Having only been established in October 2022, this was Ripley Scout Group's very first LEAP, and for all of our Scouts, it was their first opportunity to experience this iconic event.

Over five days at BP Park, five of our Scouts embraced every opportunity that came their way. Living as an independent patrol, they planned meals, cooked, cleaned, set up and packed down their campsite, and everything that comes with five days of camping.

They also challenged themselves through navigation, pioneering, mountain biking, berg buggies, rock climbing, motorised eskies, abseiling, Scouting heritage activities, hatchet throwing, and archery tag. Along the way, they enjoyed offsite adventures, including the Amazing Race and a trip to the theatre to watch the Brisbane Gang Show.

Every challenge allowed our Scouts to develop new skills, build confidence, strengthen friendships with other Scouts, and grow as individuals. These experiences are helping prepare them for even bigger opportunities ahead, including AJ 2028 - 27th Australian Jamboree.

A huge BRAVO to all of our Scouts for stepping outside their comfort zones.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our incredible adult volunteer leaders who supported our Scouts throughout their entire LEAP journey.

UPDATE REGARDING RIPLEY ROAD BRIDGE CLOSURE

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚧

South Ripley Road bridge, crossing Bundamba Creek, located between Watsons Road and Bayliss Road, is currently closed for maintenance works.

We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate motorists' patience and understanding as we work to safely restore access to the bridge as soon as possible.

Bridge maintenance works are anticipated to take between 2 to 4 weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to please use designated alternative routes and observe all posted signage.

RIPLEY ROAD BRIDGE CLOSURE

To all families, invited supporters and guests attending our Annual Report Presentation this Saturday, 30 May.

Due to repairs on the one-lane bridge on Ripley Road, the bridge is currently closed in both directions for an unknown timeframe.

Please allow extra travel time and refer to the attached map showing the detour through Providence.

Watsons Road may also be used, however please be aware it is a dirt road and has a number of potholes.

We look forward to recognising the achievements of our youth members and volunteers, reflecting on the year, and sharing where Ripley Scout Group is heading.

Opening parade will commence at 3:45pm and full uniform is required.

Join Our Volunteer Team!

At our upcoming Annual Report Presentation on Saturday 30 May, Ripley Scout Group will be reappointing our Group Support Committee for the next Scouting year.

While our youth members are the ones seen out adventuring, learning, and growing, there is also a dedicated team working behind the scenes helping make those opportunities possible.

As our Group continues to rapidly grow, we’re looking for community minded volunteers who would like to help support and continue to strengthen our Scout Group for the young people and families in our community.

No prior experience is required. Training and ongoing support. What matters most is a positive, team focused attitude, willingness to follow the requirements of Scouts Queensland membership, and commitment to supporting young people in our community.

These roles play an important part in helping keep our Group running smoothly and supporting the programs, activities, camps, fundraising, equipment, safety, and opportunities provided to our youth members.
