📸 Guest Speakers – Akos Lumnitzer from 2Mad Photographers.

2Mad Photographers, the dynamic Sydney-based duo of Ákos Lumnitzer and Netra Chetty.

Founded in 2017, 2Mad Photographers brings together over 50 years of combined experience in wildlife photography. Their work captures everything from powerful birds of prey and majestic big cats to tiny invertebrates and elusive nocturnal creatures.

Passionate about both photography and conservation, Ákos and Netra believe powerful images can tell stories, spark emotion, and inspire people to care more deeply about the natural world.

Through their workshops, tours, and presentations, they share their knowledge with photographers of all levels. With Ákos’ background in ecology and Netra’s expertise in design and visual arts, their presentations offer a unique blend of technical insight, creativity, and a deep respect for wildlife.

We’re excited to welcome Michael Smyth, founder of the Phototutor website.

Michael’s photography journey began in the darkroom, developing and printing his own monochrome images before progressing to Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) printing. An early adopter of digital imaging in the late 1990s, he quickly embraced digital cameras and software and hasn’t looked back since.

Known for his clear, practical teaching style, Michael has lectured widely across Sydney and NSW, helping photographers confidently transition into digital workflows. He is also a Life Member of Lane Cove Creative Photography and has exhibited his work publicly since 2015.

During COVID, Michael launched the Phototutor Australia YouTube channel, which now features nearly 100 videos and over 1,000 subscribers with new content released fortnightly.

📸 Meet Our Judge – Flavio R. Spedalieri, AAPS

Hawkesbury Camera Club is pleased to welcome Flavio R. Spedalieri as the judge for our upcoming Black & White Competition.

Flavio is an award-winning Australian photographer with over 20 years’ experience, known for his strong eye for composition, mood and storytelling — qualities that are especially powerful in monochrome photography. His work spans landscapes, nature, cityscapes and black & white imagery.

Based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Flavio has a background in electronics, optics and imaging, and works professionally in the medical imaging field. He is an AAPS accredited photographer and an experienced competition judge within NSW camera clubs.

We look forward to Flavio’s insights and thoughtful critiques as he guides us through the creative and technical strengths of black & white photography.

PRESENTATION - Minimalist & the way I photograph by Greg Pitty.

Greg’s photographic journey began at the age of 11 with a Kodak Brownie and by his own admission, it’s been all downhill from there. From prints collected at the local chemist, to time spent in an analogue darkroom, and now into the digital realm, photography has remained a constant and rewarding voyage.

Along the way, Greg has happily jettisoned a number of genres that refused to cooperate people, birds, animals and flora among them finding little joy (or success) in the hunt.

Today, his work focuses on architecture, minimalism, monochrome and creative imagery, genres that give him both satisfaction and freedom. They allow him to present subjects not only as they exist, but as he imagines them to be. From capture, to processing, to regular printing, the entire process remains part of the fun.

🎤 Meet Our Guest Speaker – Peter Hill

We’re excited to welcome Peter Hill, an award-winning Australian photographer with 50 years of experience, as our upcoming guest speaker at Hawkesbury Camera Club.

In 2014, Peter became the first photographer in Australia to present a solo exhibition entirely of black & white infrared images. His work has since been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, with photographs held in the Australian Museum and South Australian Museum.

Peter is a Better Photography Landscape Photographer of the Year winner and a multiple Australian Geographic ANZANG award recipient. He is also a highly respected camera club presenter and judge, sharing his knowledge across Australia and internationally.

We’re looking forward to an inspiring night of photography and storytelling.
