Busking For Beds is an initiative designed to raise money for charities dealing with homelessness, mental health, abuse and prevention through public or online live performance. As the landscape of live music and the increasing challenge to make money from live performance has become more difficult we have decided to try and make an ongoing commitment to this project, through more online presence
and music performance. The pandemic has amplified the issue of mental health to a huge degree! With the direct correlation between mental health and the other major issue we tackle, homelessness, we have decided to support 12 charities. The 12 charities will be on a continual 12 month rotation to keep Busking For Beds an ongoing music project, funding both artists and registered charities. After transaction fees artists will receive 80% of tips and 20% of the takings are donated to the charity being fundraised for that month. Now that public performances are back and running including busking and venue based gigs Busking For Beds is funding each artist who signs up with their own unique QR code and banner. People can simply scan the artist’s QR code banner with their phone and pledge their amount. All the money to the artist goes back into creating more music for your enjoyment. It is vital I believe that, in a time where every musician’s ability to make a living from their art has been all but extinguished, particularly original music, we must find a new and meaningful way to continue giving our gift to the world! I know I speak for a majority of artists when I say that, as a minimalist at heart, all we seek to utilise the money we receive is to re-inject it back into our music. This then gives us the ability to give you back this gift in the form of our art. And what better way to do that than give back to our community and those less fortunate at the same time! Furthermore, any money given generally, outside of performance, either via the website or our social media platforms will be given 100% to the charity of choice. This will be done either through a fundraiser page where the charity has this set up or through our Everyday Hero account where this does not exist. Feel free to contact us for any further questions.
