📣 Operation Rosemary 2026 is less than a month away and Sydney Legacy is still looking for volunteers to lend a hand.

Every Anzac Day, Legacy offers sprigs of rosemary to the community as a symbol of remembrance for those who served and sacrificed. Many people choose to give in return, helping Legacy continue its support for veterans’ families. Our rosemary is generously donated by Harris Farm Markets.

How can you show your support?

Give a few hours of your time to help prepare the rosemary or hand it out on Anzac Day. You can also order a rosemary tray for your workplace, school, pub, club or hotel.

Volunteer now or order you tray here 👉 https://ow.ly/3V1H50YoTQW

Poppies or Rosemary for ANZAC Day?

Both poppies and rosemary are symbols of remembrance, and it's common to see both worn on ANZAC Day. However, rosemary is the traditional symbol of remembrance to wear on ANZAC Day in Australia.

Why?
▪ Because rosemary grows wild on the Gallipoli peninsula, so it has special significance to ANZAC Day.
▪ Because the Australian Returned Soldiers and Sailors Imperial League (the forerunner to the RSL) passed a resolution to recognise the poppy as the international memorial flower to be worn on 11 November, and so the poppy is formally associated with Remembrance Day.

The Senate Committee inquiry into the Management of Defence estate assets has a deadline: submissions must be received by 17 April 2026.

It's a tight turnaround, and RSL Australia is moving fast.

We are working directly with RSL State and Territory Branches to build a unified submission that reflects the views of our entire network.

The contributions many of you shared over recent weeks are being incorporated into that submission. Your input is shaping what we put to the Committee.

RSL Australia is committed to holding the Government to account on this.

The decision to divest 67 Defence estate sites, the most significant reform to the Defence estate in Australian history, must be accompanied by genuine transparency and proper community consultation.

We intend to make that case clearly.

We'll keep you updated on our social channels and through the President's Newsletter. Not signed up yet? rslaustralia.org/presidents-newsletter

The Yarramundi Veterans Shed has changed its Face Book page name to Defence and Emergency Services Veterans Shed - Western Sydney. Our official name change won't take effect for a few months.
Our new address is 312 Londonderry Rd, Richmond (at the Richmond Racing Club grounds).
We meet every Thursday at 10am until 4pm. (This week the meet is on Wednesday due to Easter)
We will soon start meeting on other days as well.
We are currently renovating the building we have been given at the RRC to use for a meeting room, kitchen and office.
By late this year we will have a shed erected to use as a workshop.
Come along, have a cuppa and a chat and/or help out with the renovations.
Exciting times for the DESVS.
