The Rheola Charity Carnival committee recently came together to debrief on this year’s successful event and share ideas for the 154th Rheola Charity Carnival, to be held on Easter Monday 29 March 2027. 🎑✨

We’re excited for the planning process to begin later this year and look forward to bringing another fantastic day to the community.

Here is a Sunday fun fact for you! πŸŽ‰

The first ever Rheola Charity Carnival was held on this day, 24 May 1871 πŸ“œβœ¨

It was advertised as the β€œGrand Queen’s Birthday Fete. The first - but certainly not the last" (with history proving that as here we are 155 years later!) 🎑❀️

The day featured a monster procession through the local streets to the grounds πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽπŸŽΆ The venue was the cricket ground in Tylers (which is what the area was called in 1871).

The sports program included foot and horse racing πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‡, high jump, sack racing and quoits. There were side amusements and games 🎯🎠, along with a monster sale of gifts (the forerunner to today’s Bazaar Stall!) πŸ›οΈ Refreshments were available throughout the day β˜•πŸ°

The sports day concluded with a display of fireworks πŸŽ†, followed by a concert and ball πŸ’ƒπŸŽ» at the local school house.

This acknowledgment is not just for the committee, but extends to the many wonderful volunteers who help make the Rheola Charity Carnival possible each year. Your time, effort and dedication are truly appreciated and are a vital part of the success of our day.
Thank you πŸ’™β€οΈ

To celebrate National Volunteer Week, Council called for members of the Loddon community to nominate either a volunteer or volunteer group that they believe deserves recognition for the time, skill and passion they give to their community.

While there could only be one overall winner, we want to take a moment to recognise and thank all of the incredible volunteers who were nominated. Your time, generosity and commitment do not go unnoticed, and the impact you make in our community is truly valued.

Today, we’d like to celebrate:

⭐ Sue Brown
⭐ Wayne Stevens
⭐ Bec Cullen
⭐ Rheola Charity Carnival Committee
⭐ Paul Perry

Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue to recognise more of our wonderful volunteers.

National Volunteer Week is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who help make the Rheola Charity Carnival possible each year. πŸ’™

From the months of planning and organising behind the scenes, to the working bees, set up, helping on the day, and the huge clean up afterwards- every contribution matters.

The Carnival would not be what it is without the dedication, hard work and community spirit of the many individuals who give their time so generously to create this special event year after year.

To each and every volunteer, supporter and helper- thank you. We appreciate everything you do. πŸ‘βœ¨
