Fight For Finn Foundation

Fight For Finn Foundation Fight For Finn Foundation has been established to provide care, services & financial support for Finn

We would like to introduce to you a dear member of our Community, nine year old Finn O'Donovan. We know you will be instantly charmed by Finn's adorable smile and sparkling eyes which give a hint of the delightful and adventurous boy that Finn is. A boy who loves doing all things most boys his age love - riding a bicycle and playing with his friends, siblings and cousins. He is a delight to be aro

und and being on the receiving end of one of Finn's similes is indeed magical and contagious. Finn is the son of Rebecca and Ross O'Donovan and brother to 14 year old sister Ella and 12 year old sister Nia. They are a beautiful family who are well known for being community minded and respectable family, always willing to help others in need. Tragically, this family is now in need of the support of the community as they face the reality of Finn's recent diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a degenerative, terminal disease which affects young boys, with 1 in 3,500 boys born with DMD. The cruel manner in which this disease inflicts itself cannot be ignored. It indiscriminately attacks all muscles of the body, which slowly breakdown and most boys become wheelchair bound by their late primary school years to early teens. This is often followed by cardiovascular and respiratory difficulties and life expectancy is in the mid-twenties. This diagnosis is a tragedy which has left Finn's family completely devastated. Ross and Rebecca are remaining positive and are showing everyone in their community what the meaning of true love is. Their pure love for their Finn and their girls Ella and Nia has given them the strength and determination to ensure no stone is left unturned in their mission to give Finn the best quality of life available. They are very proud people and don't ask for anything other than the love and support of the community. It is the community's love for the O'Donovan family that has inspired our passion to raise money and support them on this journey.

Our fearless committee member (and Finn’s proud uncle) Paddy is taking on one of Australia’s toughest endurance events this Saturday 17th May 2025 – the UTA50 Ultra Trail in the Blue Mountains.

That’s 50km of rugged trails and 2,476 metres of elevation – an enormous physical challenge, but one Paddy is determined to conquer repping his Fight for Finn Foundation shirt to help raise funds and awareness for our incredible cause.

As tough as the UTA50 is, it’s nothing compared to what Finn and his family face every single day. This run is a show of strength, love, and commitment to a legend of a boy who continues to inspire us all.

If you’re able, please support Paddy’s run and Finn’s ongoing care by donating here

Let’s cheer Paddy on as he climbs for Finn – every step and every dollar counts.

The day is almost here.

Tomorrow is the first time The Fight For Finn Foundation has taken part in the Sydney Marathon. And we can't wait!

With Finn taking part this time, it's the icing on the cake!

Thank you to our very generous sponsors. Without your commitment to our foundation, tomorrow would not be possible.

To our wonderfully eager athletes. Thank you 🙏 There are no words to describe our gratitude. Finn will be smiling!

To all those that have donated to your favourite athlete and those who are backing us.
The weather is not looking too kind, but will be a walk in the park, in comparison to Finn's battles.

It's not too late to donate to get your person over their fundraising goal.

Best of luck to all the crew tomorrow.

And a heartfelt thanks to all of you, who have Finn in your thoughts.

What a wonderful community to be a part of.

Walk, run or rolling, have a blast and smile 😊

Our gratitude goes out to our incredible sponsors who have been behind not only this event, but other events in the past.

We could not create this charity event for Finn if it wasn't for the generosity of the following sponsors.

We look forward to seeing our athletes run with your company names on display on their running gear.

It is an honour to represent top companies who are unwavering in their generosity and support of the Fight For Finn Foundation.

It's over one month away till we lace up our runners for the foundation.

We have an impressive 27 athletes running/ walking and rolling in this year's Sydney Marathon.
This is to raise funds for Finn's Wing in his home. His care needs have become very tricky and his parents are constantly trying to improve his space to ensure he feels comfortable and happy in his environment.

As Finn's mobility has become so limited in the past few years, there are very limited options in what he can participate in socially.

Therefore, this is a place for him to have friends over and in his own comfort knowing all of his medical and care needs are within arms distance for him and his carers.

We are forever grateful for our eager athletes and hope that our wonderful Fight For Finn community can support them. Thank you.

We would like to send a heartfelt thanks to our wonderful event sponsors who continually show their unending support for Finn. These sponsors are always 100 percent the Fight For Finn Foundation and they know their sponsorship is ensuring a very special young man continues to receive the support he needs.

Our sponsors are the reason we can continue to run these events, for Finn. So let's get behind our Sponsors the way they are always behind the Fight for Finn Foundation.

Best of luck to all our athletes on September 15, 2024.
