▪️ Instead of wheat: About $8 per person (with the intention that any extra amount counts as charity).
▪️Instead of rice: About $15 per person (with the intention that any extra amount counts as charity).
▪️Instead of dates: About $40 per person (with the intention that any extra amount counts as charity).

✨ Preference: It is recommended to pay Zakat al-Fitrah in the form of dates.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
Voluntary work is one of the greatest doors to goodness in Islam, combining sincerity with giving, and contributing to the development of a cooperative and compassionate community. Based on this spirit, we invite those who wish to serve the community to nominate themselves for the presidency of the Australian Shia Gathering Place.

According to Article (18) of the institution’s constitution regarding candidacy for the presidency of the Australian Shia Gathering Place:

Frequently Asked Questions

▪️ Question: What are the requirements to run for the presidency?
🔸 Answer: According to Article (26) of the constitution:
1- You must have been a member of the institution for at least 12 months.
2- You must be 25 years old or older.
3- Proficiency in both Arabic and English.
4- Must hold Australian citizenship.
5- Must have the ability and competence to manage the institution and its branches.

▪️ Question: How do I know if I am a member?
🔸 Answer: According to Article (8.15):
You are considered a member if, in the year 2025, you have:
1- Paid the annual membership fee, or
2- Donated $480 or more, or
3- Volunteered 48 hours and requested to be registered as a member.

▪️Question: If I win the presidency, who will work with me?
🔸 Answer: According to Article (27.2):
You must form a committee of four members within 7 days:
1- Secretary
2- Treasurer
3- Public Relations Officer
4- President (yourself)

The team must be presented to the general members, and any proposed member is rejected if 30% of the total members object.

▪️Question: What is the term of presidency?
🔸 Answer: According to Article (15): The presidential term is five years.

▪️ Question: I want to work with the institution but cannot be president. Is that possible?
🔸 Answer: Yes, this is very helpful. Please contact the current leadership of the institution.

Australian Shia Gathering Place strongly condemns the horrific act of violence that occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Such a senseless act has deeply shocked and saddened us, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragic incident.

We pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for strength, patience, and comfort for the families enduring this painful time. Acts of violence and terror have no place in our society and stand in direct opposition to the values of peace, compassion, and respect for human life that bind our community together.

We affirm that this act of terror has no place within our community, and we fully support the efforts of authorities to ensure justice is served. Whoever is responsible for this crime must face serious legal consequences in accordance with the law.

Australian Shia Gathering Place stands united with the wider Australian community in rejecting all forms of violence and in working together to uphold peace, safety, and harmony for all.
