Under the watchful gaze of the resident Tawny Frogmouths these amazing volunteers installed 1,250 plants and guards
Thank you to all the helped out today in various different ways.
The species planted today were Kennedia prostrata aka Running Postman, Austrostipa elegantissima aka Feather Spear-grass, Austrostipa mollis aka Soft Spear-grass and Rytidosperma fulvum aka Copper-awned Wallaby-grass - all fantastic species to support insects. Native insects not only pollinate our ecosystems and food plants but are an important food source to species like the Tawny Frogmouth.
And yes.. there are tree guards back on the slope.. welcome to stage two of the slope plantings.. the install of grasses and wildflowers. We’ll love not to install tree guards but the lake is home to over 65 Swamphens.. who love to pull out plants.. we forgive them for the extra work.. the world would be dull without them.
We’ll be back at the slope for w**ding tomorrow and more planting on Sunday - come and join us to restore Country, support wildlife and hang out with some wonderful people.
