A cheeky Krefft's Glider ๐˜—๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ด from our annual fauna surveys last week in collaboration with Peter Homan Fauna Consultancy.

Krefft Gliders are a type of Sugar Glider and are members of the possum family. They are found across most of far eastern Australia.

Boneseed is currently classified as a regionally prohibited w**d in several catchments in Victoria, while regionally controlled in other areas.

This invasive w**d poses a significant threat to native vegetation and biodiversity, forming dense stands that outcompete native plants and reduce habitat for native animals.

Boneseed is highly invasive due to its prolific seed production and effective dispersal mechanisms. Each plant can produce up to 50,000 seeds, which are spread by animals, birds, water, and even human activities such as vehicles and equipment.

Staff at ID Ecological Management have been involved in a number of successful control programs for this species across Victoria.

Green and Golden Bell Frog from our annual frog survey last week with the help of Peter Homan Fauna Consultancy.

The site, located in the Gippsland Lakes district in Victoria, has been surveyed for the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ข ๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข for over 10 years. This year's 5 day survey, we found a record number of individuals, showing they are doing quite well at the survey site.

As well as a big number of these frogs we found 2 other species of threatened frog. So a big success all round and a testament to the client's ongoing environmental management of the site.

๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ข (Purple Diuris), a threatened species in Victoria.

ID Ecological Management have been involved in the successful management and protection of this beautiful species of Donkey Orchid at several locations in Victoria for over 10 years.

This species mostly inhabits native grasslands, grassy woodlands and open heath. It was once widespread in Victoria but has suffered a major decline due to a number of factors including habitat modification, agriculture, competition with w**ds, soil disturbance and grazing pressure from native and introduced animals.

Out team today were alongside Tracy and their scent detection dog Raasay to locate Common Cordgrass ๐˜š๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ด...

Out team today were alongside Tracy and their scent detection dog Raasay to locate Common Cordgrass ๐˜š๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ด in Western Port Bay for Melbourne Water.

Once located by the dog and flagged, our team swept through behind with knapsacks treating this highly invasive w**d with herbicide.
Such a great experience working with Tracy and seeing her amazing dog in action.
