🌧️The rain certainly provided the Renmark crew an opportunity to assist our community!🌧️

🚗 It started just after 7pm with the first call to assist a member of the public who had become stuck on the clay flats at Renmark North. Thankfully they didn’t go too far into the soft section and with some elbow grease and use of Maxtrax we were able to free them.

🌳 Our second task was to clear a tree which had fallen and block one side of the main road. We worked along side the Renmark MFS to complete the task swiftly with the local SA Police crews providing traffic control allowing us to create a safe working space.

🧡On Tuesday our crews will be taking a break from their normal training schedule to meet up with our neighbouring units to celebrate WOW Day! WOW Day (Wear Orange Wednesday) is an opportunity to wear something orange to show support for the countless volunteers who dedicate their time to ensuring the community remains safe🧡

🚨Our crews have just returned from a single vehicle Road Crash Rescue. 🚨

🚗 The vehicle had left the road, rolled and collided with a small tree. Upon our arrival the occupant was outside the vehicle with a member of the public.

As there was no requirement for our crews to work on the vehicle we left it as we found it for the police investigation until we were given the ok the relocate the vehicle back to its 4 wheels.

👏 Well done to the crews who responded along side our colleagues at the Paringa CFS, SA Police and SA Ambulance Service.

Tuesday nights training was a rescue/transport scenario.

🗺️ The initial actions of the crew were to locate the casualty based on a given grid reference and call in our vessel Renmark81.

⚓️ Our marine based crews received care of the casualty and transported to a second location simulating transport to an awaiting ambulance.

🚑 While transporting, our crews undertook CPR on the patient adding another level of complexion to our training.

These types of scenarios allow our crews to be prepared to assist our community in times of need.

Our crews have had a busy 48hrs with 2 calls for assistance received.

☝️Task 1 was to help 2 members of the public who were camping downstream of lock 6 when their kayak had broke free of its moorings and floated down stream. With th use of our vessel “Renmark81” we were able to collect the kayak and return it to the owners. They were grateful for the assistance and an easy outcome not resulting in the residents needing to be rescued.

✌️Our second task was last night shortly before 10:30pm for reports of a 2 car collision with an entrapment. We were able to work closely alongside our colleagues at SAMFS, SAAS and SAPOL to free the entrapped patient enabling them to swiftly receive further treatment at the hospital.

👏Our crews have done an amazing job and we are proud of each and everyone of them. 💯

We’ve had an uneventful month recently in Renmark. 🤞

We’ve been back training with our members undertaking marine operations and search training.

⚓️ Marine operations included practicing reversing the boat trailer, meeting up with our neighbouring units and getting familiar with their boats.

🕵️‍♂️ Our members spent some time learning the art of searching for missing people and items. The training covered preparing for a search, the types of searches we can undertake and what to do when we find the missing person/evidence.

The theme of the day has been Teamwork!!

It all started with a tree dropping some branches onto a live powerline around 8:15am. Along side the SAMFS our crews deemed it unsafe to attempt to remove the branch and requested the attendance of SA Power Networks to make the scene safe. 🪾⚡️

At 10:26am we were requested to attend the scene of a structure fire by our colleagues from the Renmark MFS. We attended to provide support to an adjoining carport to prevent it from collapsing. There were also crews from the SACFS, SA Ambulance and SA Police in attendance. 🚑 🚔 🚒

We are always prepared to assist our fellow emergency services in keeping our community safe and we are extremely proud of our volunteers who generously donate their time so we are able to keep the community safe!👏👏

This was the page we received today when our colleagues from SA Ambulance requested our assistance. 🚑

Along side of the Paringa CFS we assisted with the extrication of a casualty from a houseboat who had suffered a fall and severely broken their ankle.

Everyone on scene put their minds to work and developed a plan to safely and comfortably get the patient off the houseboat, up the bank and to the waiting ambulance. 👏👏

The teamwork and camaraderie displayed from all services on scene is a testament to their ambition to keep our community safe!!

🌡️ A heatwave is forecast across South Australia this week – now’s the time to prepare.

Heatwaves can impact anyone. Older people, young children, outdoor workers, and people with certain medical conditions are most at risk.

Here are 5 things you can do TODAY to get ready:

1️⃣ Make a plan to check on family, friends and neighbours
2️⃣ Know the signs of heat-related illness, such as dehydration – visit the SA Health website www.sahealth.sa.gov.au
3️⃣ Find a cool place you can go if your home gets too hot, like a shopping centre or library
4️⃣ Set up a ‘cool room’ using fans, curtains and blinds
5️⃣ Plan how you will keep your pets cool and healthy
