AMS Redfern staff are wearing their Jerseys today to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.

Jersey Day is inspired by 13 year old Nathan Gremmo who became an organ donor at the age of 13 following a car accident.

One organ donor can save the lives of up to seven people.

Anyone aged 16 and over can register and it only takes one minute.

The Directors of the Board of the Aboriginal Medical Service Co-operative Limited recognise the remarkable life, achievements and enduring contribution of Uncle Tony Mundine.

Tony was a proud Bundjalung man whose journey and accomplishments have inspired generations of Aboriginal people, allowing them to believe what was possible in the face of significant barriers.

His achievements extended well beyond his outstanding sporting career, his presence and standing within the community have contributed to the strength, visibility and pride of Aboriginal people across the country.

He will always be an important part of the history and identity of the Aboriginal community in Redfern and inner Sydney.

Our thoughts are with Tony’s family and loved ones.

Peace and Unity,
AMS Board Directors and Staff

Today, is Indigenous Literacy Day – a celebration of stories, cultures and languages.

The theme this year is Country is Our Teacher.

Since we launched our own AMS Redfern Street Library, it has been lovely to see everyone sharing books at AMS Redfern.

So next time you’re at AMS Redfern, don’t forget to have a look for a new book to read and enjoy, or bring one back if you’ve finished with it to share with someone else.
