Huge shout out to Kathryn from Australian Seed and Grain in Moora.
Kathryn has been donating left over seed to our sanctuary each season for nearly 5 years.
The seed is used to cover crop our paddocks using regenerative farming practices (chemical free) so that the soil stays covered with green live compost. This builds microbial soil health meaning we don’t have to use Fertaliser’s when we sow pasture or hay crops, and our organic pastures stay greener through summer without the need for irrigation.
Every now and then we let the horses graze it to trample some green waste into the ground and they add urea and manure to the paddocks.

Happy Birthday Ms. Lola. Little legend of the farm. The boss of boss’s and full of love and cuddles. 14 yo today.

Here’s what goes into our daily horse feeds. They also get Lucerne biscuits in the afternoons and all day access to oaten or wheaten hay rolls whilst free ranging 13 paddocks over 50 acres. They all get monthly - six week farrier work done, annual dentals, veterinary care as required and 5 different rugs each for different seasons, oh …. and plenty of love and care.
Old Maggie and Storm are retired and aren’t ridden. Abby, Lilly and Leo are still ridden and love a nice trail ride to check the fences and wildlife.
If you have experience around horses, and you want to volunteer some time, come for a ride or donate to their amazing life styles after being rescued through RSPCA prosecution cases, we are a registered not for profit. Please send us a message.

Every year, well‑meaning people take home a joey and tell themselves it’s rescue. They bottle‑feed it, cuddle it, post the photos, fall in love with the “baby stage”… and then, when it stops being cute or becomes inconvenient, they hand it over to a wildlife carer and expect us to “fix...

On full display tonight is one of the tanks donated to our sanctuary by Lindsay at Kingspan water tanks.
Because of their generosity, we have three months back-up water for our rescued animals during summer - if our bore’s go down.
Kingspan and the team also donate all of our corrugated iron for our stables, sheds and rescue shelters.
We are for ever grateful and always willing to give our supporters a shout out.

Big day on the ranch.

Teeth done on all five horses. Maggie and Storm had a couple pulled but didn’t miss a beat. They are all back grazing like nothing happened.

Last night’s sunset was something else.
