Some people do more than coordinate a program. They build it, open doors, and leave a lasting mark on their community.
After more than 10 years as coordinator of the L2P program at Northern Suburbs Community Centre, Mani is finishing up in his coordinator role. It is impossible to describe how much he has contributed in those years.
Mani has been part of the program from both sides. Before becoming coordinator, he was a volunteer mentor himself. That experience shaped the way he supported learners, mentors and the community: with patience, understanding and a belief in what the program can do for people.
Mani has been the strength of L2P. Lots of mentors joined because of Mani, and learners felt ready to take the next step because of the time and care he invested with them before they even got behind the wheel.
Mani will be missed in the coordinator role, but we are very glad he is not leaving the program completely. He will continue supporting L2P as a volunteer mentor and is starting supervising a learner who has been waiting 12 months for the opportunity to get started.
Getting a licence changes a person’s life. It opens opportunities to work, study, family responsibilities, connection and independence.
Mani will continue to make a difference, just from a different role.
