Flowering cactus means one thing. Seeds are coming, and a small patch can become a paddock problem faster than you think.

With warm conditions building across the Shire, now is the critical window to inspect your property and act before plants set seed.

🔍 WHAT TO LOOK FOR
• Flat, paddle-shaped pads with pink or red flower buds
• New growth on previously treated areas
• Spread along fence lines, creek banks, and disturbed ground

✅ WHAT TO DO NOW
• Walk your property and map any new infestations
• Do not disturb or slash plants. This can spread viable material
• Contact SBG to discuss control options, including Cochineal biocontrol and chemical treatment
• Report new sightings so we can track spread across the Shire

This month our team completed targeted treatment of prickly pear infestations across several properties in the shire. Early intervention on established plants reduces the cost and effort of future control significantly.

ACTIVITY SUMMARY
- Properties inspected: 6
- Cactus plants treated: 340+
- Treatment method: Herbicide injection and foliar spray
- Follow-up monitoring: Scheduled for 6 weeks post-treatment
