🎭 The Burger Centre transformed into a theatre today as we welcomed the wonderful Sam and Norm for a special performance of the beloved My Fair Lady.

The music, the humour, and the storytelling had everyone captivated from start to finish. Some of our clients knew every word and were more than happy to sing along to their favourite songs! 🎶

With a full house and plenty of laughter, it was a truly memorable afternoon. Seeing the smiles on our seniors' faces was the greatest reward for our performers and staff.

A huge thank you to Sam and Norm for bringing this classic musical to life and creating such a special experience for our community.

✨ What an amazing and busy week we've had at The Burger Centre! ✨
From engaging concerts and inspiring guest speakers at the centre to wonderful outings across Sydney, our seniors have enjoyed a week full of connection, learning, laughter, and friendship.
Seeing our community members staying active, making new memories, and enjoying life to the fullest is what it's all about.
As the week comes to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients, families, volunteers, staff, and the wider community a peaceful, restful, and joyful Shabbat.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next week for more great programs, activities, and adventures. 💙

We also want to thank everyone for a very special day we shared on Thursday — with a beautiful concert 🎶, a meaningful talk from Rabbi Sam Zwarenstein, and of course delicious ice cream 🍦 from Daas Gelato.

What a wonderful day we enjoyed at The Burger Centre this week 💙

Elana Benjamin delighted our clients with a special Indian Jewish cooking demonstration, preparing traditional Nankhatai shortbread biscuits which everyone enjoyed for dessert. Elana’s lovely aunt Florence, who attends our Monday program, was incredibly proud to share this special family and cultural connection with the group.

We were also privileged to welcome Carolyn Saul, documentary maker with the National Film and Sound Archive, who spoke about her film Mahjong & Mahashas. The documentary traces her family’s cultural journey from Iraq to Singapore before arriving in Sydney in the late 1950s.
Clients were fascinated by the stories, history, and heritage shared throughout the presentation. Carolyn’s film will be screened on SBS later this month.

A wonderful day in our Respite Group at The Burger Centre Randwick 💙

This week, our clients enjoyed beautiful flower arranging activities 🌸 and some friendly table tennis fun in our games room 🏓

Exceptional Outings for Seniors — The Burger Centre Way

This month, we had the incredible opportunity to take our groups of seniors from the Burger Centre to experience the powerful exhibition of works by Ron Mueck at the Art Gallery of NSW — and what a day it was.

Participants were absolutely captivated by Mueck’s hyper-realistic sculptures. The lifelike detail, emotion, and sheer scale of the works left many standing in quiet amazement. Every wrinkle, expression, and gesture told a story — sparking conversations, memories, and reflections among our group.

The outing included a guided experience through the exhibition, allowing our participants to engage more deeply with the artworks, ask questions, and share their impressions.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch together, giving participants time to connect, discuss their favourite pieces, and enjoy the social side of the day.

At Burger Centre, outings like this are about more than just a trip — they support cognitive stimulation, social connection, cultural enrichment, and the simple joy of discovering something new together.
