We have news!!

We now have a Joey section for 5 to 7 year old children! This section will be meeting 5pm to 6pm on Thursdays beginning on the 5th of November with the wonderful Cait leading your children. Everyone is welcome to come and try for 4 weeks before any commitment.
We also have spaces available in our Cubs (8 to 10 years old, meeting on Mondays 6pm to 7:30pm) and Scouts (11 to 14 years old, meeting 6:30pm to 8:30pm) also with a free 4 week trial.
Among other things, Our Joeys will be participating in ‘Get to know you’ games, basic navigation, a nature walk and a cooking night.
Our Cubs will be participating in Bushwalking, Bike Riding, Silly Science night and a Navigation night.
Our Scouts will be participating in Abseiling, a Night hike, Kayaking and a Just Desserts Cooking night, with all sections invited to an end of year pool party!
And a few reasons to join scouts: we will encourage your children to be independent and try things outside of their comfort zone, problem solving, being involved with their community, they could possible make life long friends, we think outside is better than inside and there will times we will send them home dirty!
A few reasons not to join scouts: Nope! Can’t think of any!

Kentish Cubs recently visited the Devonport Lapidary Club Inc. - Public Page and what an incredible night it was.

Sandra and her team were very welcoming of our enthusiasm and took time to explain to our youth how rocks are cut and polished, how precious metals can be melted and set into rods and bars, how to pan for gold, gave us a few tips of places to find our own rocks and we even got to take home some special treasures!

The cubs (and assisting parents!!) all came away with an understanding and appreciation of the skills shared with us and several youth members and parents have expressed interest in future visits to the club.

If you have an interest or are a little bit curious about what a Lapidary Club is, why not visit them yourself. They will be hosting an open day on the 25th of July.

The sun is forecast to shine and the Claude Road Markets are on again TOMORROW!

One of our senior and very talented Cubs, has teamed up with a beautiful local artist to create these incredible Tic Tac Toe games that we will be selling at the markets tomorrow from 9am.

There's 5 designs to choose from but there's no holds on these so get in early!

Winter is definitely here and for our Cubs and Scouts that can only mean one thing....

Fire pits and marshmallows!!

How great it was to watch the satisfaction on the faces of these cubs after they toasted marshmallows on fires that they built and lit themselves.

Learning important life skills in a safe environment is vital to the ongoing growth and maturity of our youth.

What a privilege it is to share experiences like these with our kids!

Good, clean, creative fun with NO devices in sight!

Did you have a marble run when you were younger? Maybe you still do, tucked away in a cupboard somewhere 🤔 They're the best fun ever!!

Last night our cubs were challenged to create a giant marble run using cardboard tubes, packing materials and anything their imaginations deemed appropriate to create a GIANT marble run.
The first 10 minutes was planning time then they jumped straight into the task.

The excitement, enthusiasim and peer encouragement in our hall was heart warming with some pretty decent results too!

Everyone, including the big kids (aka leaders 😆) didn't want the night to end - we were having too much fun!

This will definitely be a challenge we revisit, the cubs have already started talking about ways to improve their runs for next time.

Do you know what Prusiking is?

It's a firm favourite here at Kentish Scouts and is the act of climbing a rope using a prusik, or friction hitch.

If you think your young person might like to try this (or any of the other fun activities we do 😎) reach out to us and they can join us for a 4 week free trial.

They'll build confidence, strengthen friendships and learn new life skills along the way too!

Cubs 8 - 10 years old

Last last year one of our cubs set us all a challenge. He provided sunflower seeds, demonstrated how to plant them and explained care of the seedlings. He then challenged everyone to see who could grow the tallest flowers!

The Bunnings Easter Family night is on in Devonport TOMORROW night and our cubs will be there proving that knots ARE fun!! 😁

Three of our youth will be leading hands on demonstrations of how to make Paracord People and cute little paracord Dragonflies.

This is just one of the many creative activities that will be on offer and the best bit??? It's all FREE and you can take your items home with you!

We'll be there from 6 - 8pm.
