A Truly Moving Experience
Last week, a few of our Quota ladies had the privilege of being given a guided tour of Hummingbird House, Queensland’s only children’s hospice.
What we experienced was truly remarkable — a place created with such incredible thought, compassion and love for children and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
We were amazed by the many ways Hummingbird House supports families. Every room is equipped with hoists, allowing children to be safely included in family activities and precious everyday moments. Beautiful family suites provide a place for loved ones to stay together, ensuring families can remain close when they need each other most.
From nutritious meals provided not only for the children and their families, but also for the dedicated staff, to the extraordinary level of care, compassion, dignity and respect shown to every family — every detail has clearly been designed around what matters most.
Behind all of this is an incredible team who go above and beyond, providing 24-hour care and support, while relying heavily on philanthropy and the generosity of the wider community to continue this vital work.
As Quota members, we feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to see firsthand what this wonderful facility provides. The experience touched each of us deeply and left us with an even greater appreciation for the importance of community, kindness and giving.
Hummingbird House is so much more than a hospice — it is a place of comfort, connection, dignity and love when families need it most. ❤️
