How long do you think it will take me to pick up 50 cigarette butts at Quinn’s Beach? The answer is so disappointing that I had to reset my goal to 100 almost instantly ☹️ cigarette butts are the most littered item on planet earth and if you retrain your eyes for just a minute you will start to see them EVERYWHERE!

Here’s to another 100 years!

Sir David Attenborough is a centenarian!

The British broadcaster has been bringing the natural world into our living rooms for the past seven decades.

But what does he have to say about this extraordinary life of adventure?

To celebrate his 100th birthday, we went through documentaries, his autobiography, news articles and interviews, to reflect on his journey and legacy in his own words.

Today’s emu bob was one of my smallest but also one of my most rewarding! Because today I was joined by my daughter and it was the first time she could get involved. I’m trying to show her your never too young to care about your community, and trying to show the community why it’s important to care! Thanks for having us and I hope our rather small contribution inspires others to get out there and enjoy some community conservation

Not their mess but it is their planet! I love seeing the ways that other cultures show respect for their shared spaces. Would love to see this become a thing at Perth stadium which looks like a riot has just taken place after a game!

Stadium empty. Their team knocked out of the Asian Cup. South Korea fans were still in the stands cleaning up rubbish 🇰🇷👏

How amazing have the fans of other nations been at this tournament in Australia 🥹

QUINNS BEACH CLEAN UP: WASTE WARRIORS IN ACTION 🌊♻️

Over the weekend, we held our Quinns Beach Clean Up, with many of our centres heading to their local parks or beaches for a mini clean-up in advance. The day was a huge success, with 38 kilograms of rubbish removed from the coastline, a fantastic effort from both children and adults!

Throughout the clean-up, everyone worked together to hunt for rubbish, learning how to pick up items safely while discussing the importance of caring for our environment. It was wonderful to see children so engaged and curious, asking thoughtful questions about where rubbish comes from, how it can affect wildlife, and how small actions, like putting litter in the bin, can make a big difference.

A big thank you to the one tonne imo project for leading this event and the Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club for coordinating the sausage sizzle. It was a lovely to come together for this meaningful community project.

A massive win for our predator birds! I’ve found so many dead owls in my work in conservation and it brakes my heart every time. Great to see some positive steps in the right direction 💚

: In another big win for wildlife, has announced it will remove all second-generation rat poisons (SGARs) from shelves by 30 June 2026, following the regulator’s updated recommendation for a full retail ban of these wildlife-killing poisons

This comes 9 months ahead of the mandated deadline for their removal.

The decision follows a petition from near 40,000 of our supporters calling on Bunnings to act. Your signatures and tags have helped make Bunnings the first retailer to commit to removing SGARs from shelves.

Removing these long-lasting poisons as soon as possible is a critical step for protecting wildlife, helping to reduce further deaths while these recommendations are finalised.

We thank Bunnings for taking this step and hope it encourages Woolworths, Mitre 10, Coles and other retailers to follow suit as soon as possible.

Let's keep the good news rolling 😎🦉

New year and a fresh start for the . Today we cleaned up the holiday and new year festivities at Quinn’s beach. Always important to remember if a place is so beautiful you want to spend your Christmas and new years there it’s important to take your rubbish home with you or place it in the bins provided (in the bin! Not next to it 🙌). Another 6.2kg closer to the tonne. I’m so excited for this year and all the exciting things to come! Happy new year 🥳

Couldn’t make a video today but managed to get half an hour in down at Quinn’s Beach carpark while the baby was napping 😴 picked up 14kg of litter! A lot of that weight came from a piece of rubber matting someone had discarded in the sand dunes. I found fourteen 10c containers, 160 cigarette buts and a bobtail lizard trying to soak in the rays ready for summer. Today’s emu bob takes the grand total to 165.67kg
