Your donation can make twice the impact.

This AusArt Day, Creative Australia is providing $5,000 in matched funding to support The Unconformity’s work across the West Coast.

For every $1 donated, Creative Australia will contribute another $1, effectively doubling your contribution until the $5,000 pool has been exhausted. A $50 donation, for example, becomes $100 in support for The Unconformity.

Your donation helps sustain our work in the region, from supporting local creative practices to enabling our three Ongoing Artists to bring new work to the 2027 festival.

Artists need more than an idea to bring new work into the world. They need time to experiment, room to explore and support to see where their practice takes them.

Ahead of AusArt Day on Thursday 22 October, an early donation to The Unconformity helps make this possible for our three Ongoing Artists as they work towards the 2027 festival.

By giving today, you’re helping create the conditions for new ideas to take shape on the West Coast.

The Unconformity is participating in AusArt Day on Thursday 22 October, a national initiative supporting Australian artists and arts organisations to raise funds for their creative work.

Our campaign centres on our three Ongoing Artists, supporting them to make work for The Unconformity’s 2027 festival.

Your donation, whatever the size, will provide these artists with the time, space and support they need to develop new work, with the outcomes to be presented on the West Coast in 2027.

This AusArt Day, help us continue to support artists and the work they make in and for this place.

Join us this October for our next Open Hall.

This month, we invite veteran screen storyteller, artist and Queenstown resident Nick Maher to present a retrospective of the past two decades of his film and television career and creative practice. Sharing notable works, including UNTV and Long May She Rain, Nick will reflect on the power of screen as an artistic medium to reach hearts and minds.

With our 2027 festival now one year away, it’s also time to share the dates. Join us for an evening of celebration as we launch the dates for our eighth festival edition and begin the countdown to 2027.

We look forward to seeing you there.

We are thrilled and look forward to our CEO, Louisa Gordon, speaking at Communicating the Arts in Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada next week.

Louisa will share The Unconformity’s experience of building connection through deep community engagement, and how consistent, open and transparent communication can help strengthen relationships between artists, audiences and place.

We are proud to share the work of the West Coast on an international stage.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Secret Station.

From Queenstown to Lynchford, Saturday night brought together art, music and people across the West Coast, with each stop offering moments of discovery, connection and surprise along the way.

We’re grateful to the artists, crew and partners who brought the event to life, and to everyone who made the journey with us.

A memorable night on the West Coast. Thank you for being part of it.

We can’t wait to depart with you all for Secret Station.

This Saturday 3 October, we’ll make our way into the West Coast as day turns to night, moving through the landscape and historic stations.

If you’re not on the train or bus, you can still join us at Queenstown Station. The station will come alive from 6pm with free music, art and more for all ages.

See you in Queenstown.

Kayak Orchestra by Dylan Martorell and Lychen Kelp has just concluded a presentation at Cementa, a community-driven regional arts festival in Kandos, NSW on Wiradjuri Country.

This site-responsive work continues to find new contexts beyond its first festival season at The Unconformity 2023. Congratulations to the entire team for their work bringing this gentle journey to life.

The Unconformity congratulates our Partnerships & Stakeholder Manager, Jane Longhurst, on receiving a Gallaugher Bequest sponsored Churchill Fellowship.

Jane will undertake an international study to investigate how audiences and communities can be more meaningfully integrated into the making of theatre, and how this can shape new approaches to creative participation and engagement.

We look forward to seeing what Jane discovers and how these ideas will inform her practice in Lutruwita/Tasmania on her return.

Join us at our next Open Hall for a conversation about the Art Trail, to celebrate the continued importance of this program and share your thoughts as we work towards The Unconformity 2027.

The Art Trail is a key festival event where artists are invited to sell their work through galleries, studios, and local businesses. We’ll look back at key findings and feedback from 2025, and then look forward to hear your thoughts on what’s next for the Art Trail as we head towards 2027.

We’ll talk through how to prepare to be involved in 2027 – whether you’re an artist or creative, local business, community member, or simply curious about being part of the program.

Whether you’re experienced or new to the Art Trail, come along to hear what’s happening, share your thoughts and connect with others interested in The Unconformity Art Trail.
