Secret Station may be sold out, but the night is far from over.

You don’t need tickets to join us at Queenstown Station from 6pm for a free evening of live music and art. Explore the station, catch live music, enjoy a meal, and soak up the atmosphere. Open to all ages.

Settle in for sets from Queenstown’s own Scratch Kelly, an energetic DJ set from Buoy Ambler, and a closing performance from Bing / Santospirito x Woods at 10pm.

See you at the station.

Join us for August’s Open Hall, as we celebrate the re-launch of The Singularity, a location-based smart device app that transforms the streets of the town into an immersive audio experience, inviting you to see and hear Queenstown in a new way.

We’ll also be joined by Music Tasmania for the third instalment of our ongoing series, sharing opportunities, ideas and conversations with local musicians and creatives. This month's session will provide advice about platforms for music publishing, publicity, and airplay.

Come along for an evening of ideas and discovery, exploring new ways to experience Queenstown and the opportunities shaping the future of our creative community.

There's plenty to celebrate on the West Coast this footy season.

We're proud to be sponsoring Xander as part of our support for the Queenstown Crows, who are currently sitting 6th on the ladder as they head towards the end of the season. Congratulations to the players, coaches, volunteers and supporters who make the Crows such an important part of our community.

We'll be cheering the Crows home over the final weeks of the season and are already looking forward to next year, when the West takes on the Rest once again at The Unconformity Cup on the iconic gravel oval.

⚞BYOD - BRING YOUR old DEVICE⚟

Join us for The Unconformity's July's Open Hall, an evening of conversation, connection and community at The Unconformity Hall.

This month we're joined by Nancy Mauro-Flude, artist, educator and creative technologist, who will share insights into her practice and current work:

"Gather your gadgetry, blow off the dust, and join us in a collective hands-on tinkering and hacking session.

As we gather our collective knowledge and skills together we can rehearse hardware techniques of demolition and reconstruction, to discover what [bleak] joys they may have to offer. Perhaps they turn out to be the prophets (or, even, profits) of our epoch....

And as we gather to learn how old cats learn new tricks in screwdriver magnetism, we consider our daily agency-convenience ratios.

Also as we tinker, we can touch on discussions around ideas of 'dependencies', these hands-on scrying acts of divining (not mining), suggest excentric approaches to holistic computing, think: spoon bending (not spoon feeding).

While gazing at the entrails of circuitry, embedded minerals and rainbow cabled wires, we can tell tales enchanting (and not uninspiring) Google Detox experiments, or the passionate tango of Facebook deplatforming dances.

As we share stories of learning about computers, the hard way, we touch their inner parts with the soft, soft finger tips of our digits.

We may even find ourselves imagining how an obsolete smartphone was left to rot, where the slime mould creeps, in the dark murky brew it transformed into something other...

+ We strive to include interested participants of all backgrounds, knowledge and experience levels. Curious people are especially welcome.

+ More of a collective hacking and experimentation session than a rote learning instruction format, guided by the premise: "The symbols of the divine initially show up at the trash stratum. — Philip K. Dick 🝐 ⚶ ♆"

Attendees are invited to bring an old electronic device that they are happy to tinker with. We recommend devices that can be carried in your hands, please no smoke alarms or leaking batteries.

During the Open Hall we will also be sharing updates on Secret Station, launching the program and West Coast Presale tickets for our October 3 event with the West Coast Wilderness Railway.

Whether you're an artist, community member, or simply curious about what's happening across the region, everyone is welcome to come along, meet others and hear what's on the horizon.

The Unconformity is seeking a Production Manager to join our team.

The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing technical, physical, operational and site requirements for The Unconformity festival and other events, and coordinating the resources required to ensure all projects are delivered to the highest of professional standards in collaboration with our team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a production management role within a festivals and/or major events environment.

This is a fixed-term part-time role, leading to full time hours ahead of The Unconformity 2027. The successful candidate will ideally commence part-time in early August 2026 and will be available full-time from mid-2027.

In 2025, The Unconformity welcomed two sustainability interns to the festival team. The students were placed with the organisation through the University of Tasmania's Sustainability Integration Program for Students.

Working under the guidance and direction of Production Manager Tim Lathouris, students Paval Nava Gonzales and Natalia De La Torre Maya spent time researching and reporting on our first battery-powered stage. The research stage included testing whether a battery pack would provide the power outputs needed to operate the sound and lighting systems.

We are thrilled with the outcomes of this initiative and look forward to building on this sustainability initiative in 2026 and beyond.

Calling all donations!

With cold fronts and welcome rain crossing the state of Lutruwita/Tasmania over the past week, winter has well and truly arrived. While it's time to dust off the Tassie Tux (AKA the black puffer jacket), it's also the perfect time to consider a donation to The Unconformity and our Explorations program.

While the next Unconformity festival is not until October 2027, The Unconformity works to deliver an ongoing range of arts and cultural activity on the West Coast all year through. This includes artist residencies, youth engagement, events and community support.

Perhaps you've attended an Open Hall workshop, maybe someone in your family has attended The Unconformity and Music Tasmania workshops on DJ craft: if an event or workshop has moved you, challenged you, or shifted your sense of what's possible, now is the time to give.
