Are you passionate about supporting First Nations communities and eager to contribute to wider community growth and well-being across the region?

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team through our Community & Recreation Traineeship. In this role you will complete a fully funded Cert IV in Community Services, support the delivery of community programs and events, complete administrative tasks such as processing invoices, preparing reports, and assisting with grant applications.

We are looking for someone who is a First Nations person with an interest in learning and developing a career in community services, has strong communication and time management skills, and holds or is willing to obtain a NSW Working with Children Check.

Fifty Years of Deadly!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate NAIDOC 2026 this morning with a Community Flag Raising, Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at the Sunken Garden on Lowe Street, Queanbeyan.

We marked the occasion with a Welcome to Country performed by Aunty Matilda House and Smoking ceremony by Nick & Elijah Williams. Thank you also goes to the Honourable Kristy McBain MP for speaking, and to all our fantastic flag raisers!

A special thank you to Aboriginal Affairs NSW for providing the funding that made this community event possible, and to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council for its valued partnership and support in hosting the ceremony.

We would also like to recognise the outstanding efforts of our Yurwang Mura Rangers, who proudly coordinated this event as their first community event delivered on behalf of Ngambri Local Aboriginal Land Council. The professionalism, teamwork and dedication demonstrated by the Rangers reflects the exciting future of the program and their commitment to caring for Country and serving our community.

The Yurwang Mura Rangers are funded through the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) Indigenous Rangers Program, which is supporting the development of our Ranger team over the next two years. We sincerely thank NIAA for its investment in building local Aboriginal employment, strengthening cultural knowledge, and supporting Ngambri LALC to deliver meaningful environmental, cultural and community outcomes. We look forward to sharing more of the Yurwang Mura Rangers journey on their page in the months ahead.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a memorable occasion. Your support, participation and respect helped create a wonderful atmosphere as we celebrated together.
