NETBALL PRELIMINARY FINAL
Old Timers! Well, wasn’t last weekend just a heart-stopper! Our magnificent Belles headed into Beverley fighting for a one-way ticket straight into the Grand Final against York’s Joeys, having gone through the entire home-and-away season undefeated and looking every bit the goods. The loyal red and white were out in full force, joined by a questionably hot and sunny day that clearly hadn’t checked the calendar and realised winter was still technically in charge! Unfortunately, it wasn’t the result we wanted. But gee, didn't the girls learn a lot. It was hot, physical and tough from the opening whistle, and the Belles were made to work for absolutely everything. York came ready to play, but our girls dug DEEP, fought right until the end and walked away with plenty of positives, a few lessons tucked firmly under their arms, and a very clear idea of what they’ll bring if the two sides meet again. York might have got us this time... but the girls have taken notes. The Belles Ferrari may have hit its first proper speed bump of the season, but there’s no need to call roadside assistance just yet. The engine is still very much running, there’s plenty left in the tank, and we suspect Coach Kelsie will be spending the week making a few minor adjustments before putting the foot straight back down. And if we do get another crack at York, expect the Belles to come flying out of the gates a whole lot harder, Belles style. A huge shout-out must also go to our unreal crowd, who lined the court and made enough noise to ensure the girls knew the entire red and white army was right there with them. You lifted them all game, and we’ll need every single decibel again this weekend! Because we are not done yet. Not even close. This weekend we head back to Northam to take on the Beverley girls in a fight for the last remaining spot in the 2026 Grand Final. No second chances. No “we’ll get them next week”. Just four quarters of netball standing between our Belles and another crack at the big dance. And while this Budget Notes crystal ball has an extremely poor record of predicting scorelines, it can confidently predict that our Belles will arrive with every ounce of the guts, grit and finesse that carried them through an undefeated home-and-away season. They’ve been knocked down once. Now we get to see just how hard they bounce. So grab your family, your mates, your neighbours and anyone else within arm’s reach, point your car bonnet west and roll into Northam wearing as much red and white as socially acceptable. We need another bumper crowd courtside, loud from the first whistle until the last, ready to help get our girls across the line!
