Our Founder and the team at AMAF Inc was proud to support and celebrate the martial arts community at the AMAHOF 30th Anniversary Black Tie Awards & Gala Dinner at Melbourne Arts Centre. 🥋✨

The evening recognised outstanding achievement, dedication, leadership and lifelong service from martial artists across Australia and the wider Australasian region. These values strongly align with the principles we see in strong workplaces and communities: discipline, respect, mentorship, resilience and a commitment to helping others grow.

A particular highlight was the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Sensei Hugh Doherty from Qi Martial Fitness (also our community partner), recognising more than 35 years of exceptional contribution, leadership and influence in martial arts. Hugh’s ongoing work as a mentor, educator and role model reflects the powerful impact that experienced leaders can have across generations. 🏆👏

The event also created valuable opportunities for connection across the martial arts community, including a memorable meeting with internationally renowned martial artist Benny “The Jet” Urquidez. 👊

Congratulations to Hugh, all 2026 AMAHOF inductees, and the AMAHOF committee for delivering a memorable 30th anniversary celebration. We are proud to acknowledge people and organisations that strengthen communities through positive leadership, wellbeing, development and service.

Men’s Health Week Challenge: Strength Through Connection

In martial arts, we train the body.

In Brotherhood, we strengthen the man.

This June, our Ikigai Brotherhood is launching the Ikigai Connections Challenge—a call to reconnect, rebuild, and reach out.

Connection is discipline. It takes intention.

We often stay busy… but disconnected. Training alone. Working hard. Carrying load quietly.

This challenge changes that.

Reach out to:
• Old training partners
• Former teammates
• Friends you’ve drifted from
• Family near or far
• Someone new

There’s a saying often attributed to W.B. Yeats:
“There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t yet met.”

Australian Martial Arts Foundation is back 3rd consecutive year. Free Active Kids, Healthy Minds event this Wednesday 🥋

We don’t want you to miss out on this fun, family event these school holidays.

Join us and our community club partner MTC Ringwood for an action-packed Taekwondo Kicking afternoon with a range of martial arts activities for preschool and primary school aged children and more.

🌧️ We are hopeful for fine weather, however the forecast is for possible showers. Please wear suitable clothing and enclosed footwear; and come dressed for all seasons - this is Melbourne after all.

Time: 12noon to 3pm
📍 Town Park, Croydon
💲 Free so being the families and friends

We’re excited to officially welcome Vinh Nguyen to the Australian Martial Arts Foundation Inc (AMAF) Inc family as one of our Ambassadors.

Vinh is a passionate martial artist with a deep love for the arts, as well as a seasoned photographer and filmmaker who has captured countless powerful moments in the martial arts world. He’s a bit of a superstar in our community and has already achieved many amazing things – which is exactly why he’s a perfect fit as an AMAF Inc Ambassador.

Being an AMAF Ambassador is a great honour and a role we hold in the highest esteem. Our Ambassadors are the face of AMAF Inc, helping to promote and live the values and mission of our NFP organisation. We know Vinh will represent this with heart, integrity, and authenticity.

Today, our Founder and CEO had a wonderful catch-up with Vinh over coffee, milkshakes, and cakes – a great first step in what we know will be an exciting journey together.
