PDNC Town Hall Meeting tonight!!

A reminder that the PDNC Town Hall meeting is on tonight.
Puckapunyal Theatre, Passchendaele Rd
Starting at 7pm

This meeting is the make or break for the future of the PDNC and associated programs (of which we are one).
Your attendance and involvement is crucial to a (hopefully) successful outcome which would then permit us to reopen as a priority.
See you all there tonight!!

23/02/2023

Your community needs your support!!

You should all now be aware of the temporary closure of the PDNC and, as a direct result, the closure of all programs. The Community Shed is one of those programs.

Initially we were being permitted to open / remain open and we were just about to when the notice came through that the PDNC has now moved in to β€œcaretaker” mode which means ALL programs are currently closed.

To address the various matters and to vote in the new PDNC committee, a special community meeting is being conducted at the Puckapunyal Town Hall/Theatre (Passchendaele Rd – near the Fire Station) on Wed 15 Mar at 7pm.

It is critical that people attend to provide a quorum for the meeting, vote in the new committee and vote on all other matters raised. Without this support the PDNC will fold and all programs will cease, so PLEASE ATTEND.

Presuming that the meeting is successful, the Community Shed will be able to open as a priority.

See you there!

There has been soooooo much progress on our new shed since our last post, and it is nearly complete. Just a couple more bits to install and tidy up.

Our official handover was conducted late May, and was a fantastic event.

Now officially renamed as the COL Dick Parker Puckapunyal Community Shed, we are beyond grateful to COL Parker for everything he has done to make our new facility become a reality. We are forever in your debt, Sir.

We are currently in the process of relocating all of our gear from the old shed to the new one. As a result, both sheds are closed for project work but we always invite helping hands to assist with the move. The sooner it is complete, the sooner we can open again 😊

You can't build a great building on a weak foundation. You must have a solid foundation if you're going to have a strong superstructure ~ Gordon B Hinckley

Well, with 14 loads of concrete freshly poured we will have a strong foundation indeed!!!😁πŸ’ͺ
So exciting to see our new shed, our new happy place, our new home away from home starting to come to life!

Just like a kid at Christmas time 😁
You know when you've hoped and dreamed and anticipated something for soooooooo long but it hasn't actually happened yet?
Today is the day where that all changes!!
Our new shed has been on paper for a few years now, but today we finally turned soil and construction has started!!
Our new shed will offer about 3x the amount of space which means more people at any one time, all of our equipment available to use and many more opportunities for all of our shedders πŸ˜ƒ
Looking forward to seeing the progress over the next few months. Stay tuned for updates along the way.

We are OPEN !!! HOORAY !!! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

It's been a long wait, you have a tonne of projects ready to start (or finish), and now you can.

COVID requirements do still exist, and we MUST all adhere to them and ensure others using the shed are doing the same. The provisions are:

1. Density limits apply. 4m2 per person in any indoor area.
No more than 4 people in the woodworking area at any one time
No more than 2 people in the metalworking area at any one time
No more than 2 people in the tea room at any one time
No specific limits outside but you must maintain 4m2 / 1.5m spacing between people (wear a mask if you cannot maintain spacing)

2. Masks MUST be worn indoors at all times. Members are required to provide their own PPE

3. ALL equipment, tools, workbenches etc that you use MUST be cleaned immediately after use.

4. You MUST sign in and out of the facility. This is for contact tracing purposes (hopefully never needed) AND ensures YOU are covered by our insurance if something does happen while you're there.

So, go forth and get your shed on!
Be safe at all times, enjoy the space again and assist others to do the same πŸ˜ƒπŸ›

Premier Andrews has just announced the latest easing of restrictions, which includes details about community spaces (which our shed comes under).

We now just need confirmation from the SADFO that we are able to re-open. I'm hoping that will come tomorrow or at least early in the week.

So hang out just a little longer, but it's looking promising...🀞

Well, it was short and (bitter) sweet.
Unfortunately since we are in Mitchell Shire, which is now back on Stage 3 restrictions, that means the shed has had to close once again 😒
We know a lot of you will be as disappointed by this news as we are, but we hope to see you all again when restrictions lift.

Remember, stay home, stay safe and stay well.
