Wow.....what a wonderful quilt!
Donated by the SHARED STITCHES OF MANNUM quilting group to our Kiwanis Club of Prospect and pictured with our club member Cheryl.
So much work and effort has gone into this beautiful work of art.
The top was made by Shared Stitches member Jane McMellon who estimates it took approx 28 hours and working on and off over 2 weeks. She used collected pieces of fabrics that she had lovingly stored for just such a project. All 100% cotton for both the top and the back, she designed this pattern to best show the quality and design of the fabrics.
The quilting was completed by a professsional quilter, Rose Bauer of Vintage Quilting in the Barossa Valley (pattern is called "Lively").
It's even padded with an inner wadding of a wool and polyester blend, which means it is soft, warm but lightweight.....can even be machine washed!
Our Kiwanis Club of Prospect cannot express enough thanks for this fabulous donation. There are so many that will benefit from this generous effort. Thank you Shared Stitches and Vintage Quilting!

Supporting Timpir has been a major project for our Kiwanis club of Prospect helping the children's education & future.

Timpir project director, Kuol Baak (centre), is currently in South Sudan visiting his family. While he has been there he has had the opportunity to visit Waramoth primary (more photos to follow on this) but also to meet many of the students who have graduated from Waramoth Primary school over the years. In this photo are Akol Baak Chan (left) and Chan Akol Gob (right). Both finished Year 8 at Waramoth Primary in 2015. Akol is now in his third year of a Bachelor of Public Administration and the University of Juba and Chan is in his fourth year of a Bachelor of Agriculture at the University of Juba. There are many other graduates of Waramoth primary at Universities around South Sudan with aspirations to give back to their community once they have completed their studies. Akol and Chan wanted to pass their appreciation on to Timpir for the support that they received through Waramoth primary over the years. If you are in a position to help us continue this important work of supporting South Sudan's future generations through education, please consider donating at https://globaldevelopmentgroup.org/Projects/Details?id=185&projectName=Timpir%20Quality%20School&projectNum=J943N&Region=AUS&FromShortUrl=True&source=pweb
