⬇️ New reels daily Life isn’t about what happens to you.

This page is about my blog that shares how I handle life with a disability. I hope and pray that it may inspire other people going through life with health issues. Life is about how you respond to what happens to you. At age 44 I almost died, but survived, and thrived, although I received a complete SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) at the T3 level (the nipple level). Later my spinal cavity developed a cys

t, medically known as a Syringomyelia, which causes pain levels so severe, I considered death a better alternative. Life is still worth living, and I live a fulfilling and happy life. Albeit, with many challenges. Wheelchairjohn is a bad way of describing me, as I am John Duthie who uses a wheelchair, who has a spinal injury, and chronic pain, and many other things. However, Wheelchairjohn is easy to remember and sounds better than johnwheelchair, or johninawheelchair or other combinations. So Wheelchairjohn it is and I welcome you to visit the blog.

I haven’t posted on Facebook in a while, but I wanted to share what's been happening.

Last week, my 98-year-old Dad was found on the floor at his home after apparently being there for at least 4 days following a fall. He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where scans suggest he has suffered at least one stroke (possibly more).

He remains in the hospital, and his condition is serious. His long-term outlook is uncertain, so we are taking things one day at a time.

There have, however, been some encouraging moments. He still responds to familiar faces, voices and touch, and we’ve seen smiles, laughter and flashes of his usual dry sense of humour, which have meant a lot to our family.

Thank you to everyone for your support, prayers and kind messages.

During this difficult time, please understand that I may not be able to answer every question. I’ll share updates when there is something meaningful to report.
