Coming up next weekend, 29-30 May in Townsville is the 2026 Rotary NQ Field Day to be held at the Townsville Show Grounds, celebrating agricultural innovation and community spirit!

The NQ Field Days is a biennial agricultural event organized by the combined Rotary Clubs of Townsville and surrounding districts, showcasing the latest advancements in farming technology while supporting local charities and community organizations in North Queensland.

The 2026 event will take place at the Townsville Showgrounds, moving from its previous location at Reid Park, and aims to highlight both modern agricultural practices and traditional farming heritage.

The event will showcase:

🤖 Technology (Robotics) moving our agriculture and industries into the future

🚜 Machinery for the farm and everyday households

🧑‍🎓 Educational and Employment opportunities for the next generation

🛂 Future Farmer Passport Program - so much fun for the kids

HELP PEOPLE AFFECTED BY FLOODS IN NORTH QUEENSLAND!

Over the past week, communities in parts of our district across North and Far North Queensland have been devastated by torrential rainfall. The heavy weather has cut power, forced hundreds to evacuate, and required the Australian Defence Force to erect a temporary bridge near Ingham for critical supplies.

District 9560 has appointed Rotary member Neil Andrews as District Disaster Coordinator to spearhead the response effort. The district is also supporting the Rotary Club of Hinchinbrook to work with other service providers and partners to provide AU$500 EFTPOS cards to residents prioritised by authorities as displaced evacuees. The club currently has AU$10,000 initial funds and District Governor Andrew aims to release a further AU$5,000 of district disaster funds, with the consent of their Board.

Get ready for an unforgettable evening at the Proserpine Twilight Christmas Markets, proudly sponsored by Whitsunday Regional Council, happening tomorrow Friday 13 December 2024, from 5pm to 9pm!

🎁 What’s On:
• Market stalls bursting with festive cheer
• Delicious food vans
• Live entertainment
• Free face painting and train rides
• A special visit from Santa
• Ham wheel and more!

🚧 Road Closure: Main Street from The Metropole to Dobbins Lane will be closed to traffic from 3pm to 11pm. Detours will be in place.
