๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐. ๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ or ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐, is our Nursery Manager's favourite 'child' this week. It is a beautiful little plant, perfect for small gardens. The Hibiscus-like flower ๐บ is striking and can create a colourful display in a sunny position. It is a food plant for the ๐ธ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ก๐ก๐๐๐๐ (Spotted Bollworm moth) and ๐ป๐๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก๐ (Cotton Leaf Roller). We have a more detailed description in our June WCL Newsletter. Herbaceous trailing plant, which occasionally grows up to 1 metre in height and 2 metres in diameter, however most are smaller. The plant becomes dormant during the dry season with an underground tuber. Grows naturally in open woodlands or grasslands, often on rocky hillsides. The rough, hairy leaves have serrated edges and are 3-5 lobed or heart-shaped. Flowers are hibiscus-like, that are a watermelon pink colour with a dark centre. Fruits are capsules containing kidney-shaped seeds. The capsules are tough, papery, hairy and 5-lobed.
