🚌 Central Trip 2026 – Part 2 ⛺

From Uluru and Kings Canyon to Alice Springs and Ellery Creek, the second leg of the Central Trip was filled with moments of challenge, growth, and connection. One of the most rewarding parts of the journey wasn’t just the incredible places visited, but watching young people grow in confidence through the challenges and everyday moments along the way.

Throughout the trip, the group took on early mornings, long drives, challenging hikes, budgeting their own spending money, helping with camp responsibilities, and learning how to support one another through the ups and downs of life on the road.

At Kings Canyon, many were unsure whether they could complete the Rim Walk. But step by step, they encouraged each other forward and discovered they were capable of far more than they expected.

Some of the biggest moments of growth happened outside the major activities too. Sharing meals, setting up camp together, singing on the bus, learning how to plat hair & do underwater handstands, and simply spending uninterrupted time together created space for confidence, resilience, responsibility, and genuine friendships to grow.

Trips like this are about far more than sightseeing. They create opportunities for young people to build life skills, strengthen character, and experience the value of belonging and community.

We are incredibly proud of how this group embraced the journey and continued to support one another every step of the way.

Central Trip 2026 – Part 1

The Central Trip is a two-week road trip to Central Australia, where Paul takes our graduating young people on a journey that marks the end of their time in the program.

More than that, it’s a chance to build real-life skills, step into responsibility, and strengthen bonds as a team.

Preparation starts early in the year. Together, we plan an ambitious journey covering over 6,000 kilometres round trip, with 15 stops from Melbourne to Alice Springs. Months of preparation go into making it all possible.

This isn’t just a holiday.

In the lead-up, young people are encouraged to find employment, save for the trip, and learn how to budget and spend wisely. These are the moments where important life skills begin to take shape.

With support from Inner North Community Foundation through the Pathways to Employment program, we’re able to guide young people in understanding the value of employment, making good decisions, and preparing for the future with a plan.

A big thank you also to Fair Dinkum Fertilizers for building our kitchen trailer a couple of years ago. It has become an essential part of the trip, allowing us to cook , prepare, store all our things and to live out of it, together on the road for over two weeks. From planning meals and creating shopping lists to cooking for the group, young people take ownership of feeding the team.
