Sparrow was started by 3 like-minded friends in 2012. Having lived in Central Africa and Central India they were moved by the millions of forgotten causes around the world but also inspired by the countless unsung heroes that have given their lives in the struggle against poverty. Our greatest passion is education. Horace Mann called education “the great equaliser of men’s condition,” whereby even the poorest of children could go as far as their talents and hard work could take them. We believe that engaging education is one of the most important development investments that can be made both for communities and for children. Beyond essential schooling we offer limited scholarships to young women who would otherwise have no way of going to university. Health
We realise that a engaging education can only be enjoyed by a healthy child which is why we are also passionate about deploying health services. We focus on training community health workers, creating training resources and distributing medical supplies. Micro-enterprise
We believe small, local businesses are the key to financially stimulating small communities. By providing training, consulting and micro finance we believe we can motivate economic activity where there is none. We believe that problem solving and innovation can produce results even in the midst of hardship.
