We’ve wrapped up the final visit in our work with John Pirie Secondary School with a trip to the South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy.

It was fantastic spending time with such a great group of students sharing Pirie Voices questions and, more importantly, listening and learning from their perspectives.

Of course, no visit to SAASTA is complete without admiring the incredible artwork, later brought to life as Santos Aboriginal Power Cup guernseys each one telling its own story and showcasing the creativity of students over the years.

Thank you for your time, enthusiasm and generosity!

Hello from Pirie Voices! 👋

May has been a month of connection, with over 900 conversations so far, bringing us closer to our 1,000 Voices goal.

From the Career Roadshow to Reconciliation Week and school sessions with John Pirie Secondary and St Mark’s College, we’ve been inspired by the stories, ideas and experiences shared by our community.

Every voice matters, and each conversation helps shape what comes next.

Last Wednesday, we gathered for a special Reconciliation Week Event - Paint & Connect, a space to come together, listen and reflect.

Artist Tammy Hudson led us in a meaningful Acknowledgment of Country, grounding us on the beautiful Nukunu land on which we live.

It was powerful to see such a diversity of perspectives come together in a warm, open environment. Every canvas told a story, every conversation deepened connection, and every moment reminded us that reconciliation is something we build—together.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined, shared and supported this experience. Let’s continue these important conversations beyond today.

A big thank you to the organisations that supported this wonderful event!

Port Pirie Regional Council are inviting our community to help shape the future of our playgrounds, because the best spaces are created with the people who use them.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, young person or simply someone who values great community spaces, your voice matters. What would you love to see? More shade? Different equipment? Spaces to gather and connect?

This is your opportunity to share ideas, priorities and feedback to help create a playground that reflects our community’s needs and hopes.

💛 Supporting Carers in Our Community 💛

At a recent Coffee with a Cop event, Pirie Voices had some important conversations with both parents caring for children and children caring for parents about how challenging it can be to find support for in regional areas.

We want to shine a light on the incredible work of Carers SA — an organisation that provides vital support, services and guidance to those caring for others in our community. Many people take on this role quietly, without even realising they are officially a carer.

👉 Did you know?
If you support a family member or friend living with:
• disability
• mental illness
• dementia
• chronic or terminal illness
• alcohol or drug-related challenges
• age-related frailty
…you are a carer, and you may be eligible for free support through Carers SA.
